They need to get Mary to choreograph again, I loved that Samba!
She made a great Paso routine for Heidi and Travis in season 2 as well.

I liked Kevin & Karen's nappytabs routine and Kathryn & Legacy's caveman dance by Dave Scott was the best hip hop of the season other than the
Dave Scott group dance. So it hasn't all been shit. Just mostly shit.

There was an interview with Jean Marc in the Montreal Gazette this week. I think he and France are the ones to blame for introducing sequins to ballroom/latin.
Not that that's the only thing wrong with those costumes. Love the dancing, but a lot of the associated stuff is OTT, as was ably pointed out by Adam.

I think a lot of Laurie Ann's choreography is intended for concert/music video where people are singing along with the dancing. And I don't think she
has enough time with the dancers to get them to the level where they need to be with her choreography. I love what she did with the girls on MTB.

I'm over the Paso Doble couple as well. That chick reminds me of George Costanza's mom.

OK, I haven't read anyone's posts yet, so sorry for redundancies:
Once again, the woman who choreographed Karen & Victor's "hip hop" (har har) routine is really an embarrassment to the show. I felt sorry for K&V having been stuck with that untalented hack. Mollee & Nathan are way outta their depth. I'm hoping at least one of them gets the boot tonight. I actually thought Noelle did good in the second dance she and Russell did. Good enough that Mollee should be booted. Kathryn killed it as usual. She owns this competition, as far as the women are concerned. Totally enjoyed the Lindy Hop number. |

Kathryn and Karen are tied for me as the best women and they both totally obliterate the men IMO.
God...if only they could dance together...::lesbomelt:: I still adore Ellenore. I love watching her dance, she just shines. |

You know what I would love to see? What Karen and Ryan can do. |

Karen and Ryan would pair well in ballroom, of course. Other dances, I think Karen gets the nod. I don't agree that Karen is as good as Kathryn, though.
And I'd like to get the lesbomelt in a combo meal, please. |

I've only been catching this season in brief snippets, which is a shame because Karen is the hottest woman they've ever had on the show. This was
brought to my attention last week on the results show, when she danced her solo to the Doors' Break on Through. I had DVR'd it and rewound it a couple
of times before realizing that it actually completely sucked, yet somehow I did not mind. Does she have any shot of getting anywhere? If so, I may have to
become more dedicated to this season.

The judges keep saving her, AMT. Many of us love her. Apparently, out in that other world, people think she has "attitude..." which means the tweens
are skeered of her confident femininity. I have actually really liked her in every week but last week (and I think she was deliberately trying to tone it
down). But... be warned... she looks worse without makeup.

If Ryan gets his wife again it will be the death knell for her.

I still get annoyed when people say the choreos are catering to Legacy." I have seen signature moves from every recognizably good dancer this season,
from pirouette sequences to Ballroom hands. I think it is a SMART move on the part of choreographers to do that, so long as it does not take away from the
dance (as it did earlier in the season with Jakob taking off in the middle of Melanie's routine to do his thang... and Adam kinda spanked Melanie for it).
I actually disliked Leagacy in the Waltz, true... but PLEASE, Drew. Brandon's Waltz was equally bad. Not worse, perhaps, but certainly not better. He looked terrified the whole time, and was extremely restrained in his moves. I LOVE that this season the front-runners kind of flip around a bit. We have Karen on top (so to speak), then she flubs it. Then we have KAthryn rising up slowly over the weeks. We have Ellenore missing in the middle, but coming back full-force in later weeks. We have LEgacy showing some strength, then messing up in the Walts. It makes the whole thing much more exciting; and to me, it shows that we have a much better group of dancers than ever. Russell needs to go, now. I realized what it is, with him. He skates by on reputation: "He's so good!" Yet I never remember anything remarkable. Outside of the Afro Jazz number, I can't remember anything at ALL that was even more than adequate. What he really has in his favor is swagger. EVERY dance he does has swagger (and there it is... the choreos taylor the dance for him! yawn). He shimmies his hips and gives swagger, and people think the dance is MUCH better than it is. He has GREAT musicality, but that seems to be the bulk of his talent, and not enough for me to stay interested. ETA: FINALLY I get validation for what I hate about ballroom. Thank you Adam for pointing out EXACTLY why I think ballroom is cheesy as Hell, for the most part.

I really do not like Karen...I so want to, but there is just something about her. If she can't be sexy...or I should say, if the choreography doesn't
ask for that, then she really isn't good. I wanna see Kathryn and Ryan together!!! Please, oh please!! I love Kathryn SO much. And I loved that Legacy
talked about how much she helped him. I don't think she ever got enough credit for how much she made HIM look good!!

But... be warned... she looks worse without makeup. Yeah, I noticed that in the rehearsal segments, but it's really more than just about her look. She's just got an unforced, mature sexiness that's been rare on this show. I can see how that might turn off or intimidate some of the tweenie voters, but I hope she sticks around for a while. |

Karen is one of those people who look 10 times hotter when they dance. Janette last season was the same for me.

"However, in the context of a competition, I think it's an unfair advantage that some dancers get that showcase, while others actually have
to mold themselves to moves the choreographer comes up with that don't necessarily come easily to them…"
Drew Drew Drew. You bitch about this with K and L, but the dance you loved by Jakob is just as guilty. All of these people get routines shaped around their moves. It only becomes more apparent with Breakdancing, because it is not a move we usually see choreographed (though it is choreographed, much of the time). So how is it unfair when a contemporary dancer gets three or four routines that are built around their contempo signatures, Evan gets ALL of his dances built around his Jazz hands, while BBoys or Tappers NEVER get to work with their own style, exclusively. Again, I think Sonia was brilliant to incorporate the full on B-Boy moves into her dance. She was completely transparent and unapologetic about working with what made him comofrtable AND making him stretch. |
