Jillian definately plays the game but at least she doesn't turn her teams into insufferable cunts and annoying disciples like Bob.

OK. I'm watching this thing and they all sound positive but what's coming out of their mouths does not match their bodies. With few exceptions, I see
fat people. Vicky, Ali, Tara, Jerry (the older one)...they look great! The rest...I'm not impresssed. Most of those guys said they weigh somewhere from 220
to 240. I'm sorry but that's fat. Mike isn't thin. He weighs 230 pounds! That Bernie guy is a liar. He's not 160. Bullshit. WTF?these people
are psychologically damaged if they think they are thin.

Ya Shay/Amanda/Daniel didn't become insufferable until they came to her. They were completely likable before that -_-

Maybe Bernie and Matt are like 5'2. That's the only way they could possibly be the weights they are claiming. They both looked huge. I don't know how they can keep saying Matt is a success story. He's an epic failure. When he crapped out during that run it reminded me of a new season of fatties doing the first challenge on day one. I guess they wanted to show off their couple. Did they show Marty and Amy? |

I love the biggest loser, but let's face it, it isn't really helping most of the contestant. When they go home, after the show end, they try to keep
off the weight but they can't and just gain. The biggest loser really need some new twist. Maybe like no more ranch? Bring them to new york and force them
to work out. To prevent tapping issue, the weigh in will be live and the finale will happen at the next season of the biggest loser. It is the only way to help
the contestant truthfully. But its for Reality TV so who cares?

Former Angel Gabriel wrote:Most do have a high BMI, but statistically, they still are doing better than the averages. Most medical studies view 10% of weight loss as a success, so these people have all kept off 20 to 30% at least. Few studies do long-term follow-up but of those that do, the stats are around 83% of people who regain all the weight from diet programs after two years. Most long-term diet only studies show weight gain above the base line weight after two years. I do think that most of them shown are fit in a way they never were before and have gotten off medications. To maintain a hundred pound weight loss or more, even at 230, meant they had to change a lot of the fabric of their lives, in particular their emotional demons. And to compare the 1 mile waddle on BL with the Hawaiian Iron Man is beyond ridiculous. |

What is really disturbing - above the threats if the contestants talk - is this "The current season started with five contestants of more than 400 pounds. The NY Times article is quite interesting. Some random thoughts. Wonder why Michelle didn't divulge her current weight. Noticed that Vicky's husband
was conspicuously absent. Wish they wouldn't make it seem as if the newlyweds from Brooklyn met on the show. I am disappointed they spent so much time on
Matt and Suzy. Would have liked to see how most of the contestants from Season 7 are doing. Wonder how much weight Heba the Hut regained.

Ramona Balboa wrote:Where did you get this statistic from? I've seen that claim before, with as high of a percentage as 95%. I've lost about 85lbs two years ago, and have gained maybe like 10lbs back. I've talked to other people who have also lost a LOT of weight and didn't gain it back. This number just seems to be made up. |

Vicky still looks amazing to my surprise. I for sure thought she would epic fail like she does in RL.

Whole WATN was meh. DETESTED the fact that the Tong-tards, Ronberg and Mike got a segment...
*puts "running a marathon" on my bucket list.* That NYT article just confirmed to me that while this may be an "extreme cure for an extreme situation", it's not the BEST option for these contestants to lose weight, clearly. Why else would they be sued for even talking with a reporter on how the inner workings of the show functions? Erik gaining almost all his weight back shows that the show is an extreme form of yo-yo dieting, which is the worst thing you could possibly do to lose weight! As soon as the cameras are off and the spotlight fades away, they steadily gain the weight back on as they try to adjust, just like when you lose weight from a yo-yo diet then immediately go back to your old ways and gain it all, if not more, back. Like said earlier, losing 1-2 pounds a week is the best possible thing you can do, and that's what America should be preaching (Slow and steady worked for me! I've lost 50 pounds over 4 years and I have a 1 in front of my weight for the first time since the sixth grade!) |

I've always thought that the show is not promoting a healthy way to lose weight at all. Losing massiva amounts of weight can be equal to gaining it all
back and more faster than how you lost it.

No offense TimmyTAR but it took you four years to lose 50 pounds??? You have to admit you were not trying very hard. That's barely more than 1 pound per
month, or a quarter pound per week. I don't know you and perhaps you've a disability or summat but if not that's hardly the plan a doctor would
suggest anyone follow. Yes, I have lost weight. I know it's hard, but it's not that hard. What gives?

Well in his defense, I have cerebral palsy, and am limited to a stationary bike, walking, and weight lifting (light). I can't swim, run, I can do 10
minutes on a tredmil before my legs give out.....
Either way....im not gonna care about my weight till after Christmas. Whats the point? |

Carboys Desire |

What does Christmas have to do with anything? The holiday is a free pass to eat more than you should??? Chew some EXTRA SUGARFREE GUM!
Sorry about your CP. I did imply that a disability would be a valid excuse to lose weight slowly. |

Well to be fair, assuming TimmyTAR is male and has lost over 50 pounds and weighs in the 100's (likely upper range), I'm not sure he should lose much
more than that, especially if he's a good 5'10 to 6 foot. Also, losing weight that slow is more healthy and you're more likely to keep it off as
you've kept that regime up for longer, in his case 4 years.
