If anyone cares Sarver actually got a record deal. He's been signed to Dream Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. As far as I know he's the
other person outside the Top 4 to get a record deal. I think its a Christian label.

No, because they never really wanted Kris to win. They patiently waited for him to self destuct like so many other people spectacularly did this year, but he
was ok every week and never even got in the bottom (I don't count top 5 week, when he was 3rd--they've never had a bottom 3 on top 5 week before). And
by the time the finale rolled around they were worried about Adam's gayness turning people off, so it was one of those rare years where they didn't
blatantly favor either singer. And as bad as Kris' sales are turning out to be, designated winner Danny's probably would have been even worse. Adam
(and MAYBE Allison) are the only top 10 singers this season that have commercial potential.
Aside from season 3, when the male talent was close to nonexistant, I don't think Kris would have had a chance to make the top 4 in any other season. And even that season had Matthew Metzger, who had a likable voice and personality somewhat akin to Kris', but didn't even make the top 12. I think the comparisons of Kris to Taylor Hicks are very appropriate: both are good singers without star charisma who somehow slipped through to victory (though Taylor did so in a vastly better season). Another point of comparison could come true as well: if Allison's CD is a hit, Kris (like Taylor) will have the 3rd best selling debut CD of their season. |

Well Hicks sold more than 3x Kris' first opening week sales. And supposedly his whole appeal was his charisma (I never saw it.) Of course, radio rejected
Hicks and he fell off the charts very quickly.Kris already has a Top 20 HAC hit. So he's way ahead of Hicks there.
The only thing Taylor and Kris have in common is that TPTB didn't want them to win. True winners were supposed to be Daughtry and Adam. And when the "wrong" person wins, they always get crap promotion. Allison will be lucky to sell 1/2 of what Kris did his opening week. Very lucky. |

So getting played on the radio a lot, but not having anyone buy your CD is good? It seems to me that the ideal situation would be when people hear your song
on the radio- it makes them want to buy your CD. If Kris was getting no radio play and had bad sales because people weren't aware of his music that would
be one thing. But Kris is getting a lot of radio play so people are hearing it and still not buying his CD.

k, I love a lot of the peeps who love Kris (like my hubby KMCMF) but y'all are deluding yourselves a bit if you think he's gonna even go gold with his
album or even worse, platinum. I have yet to hear anything of his anywhere. He's the first American Idol winner turned Kanadian Idol winner. That means,
a winners album which charts two months tops in the Top 100 before fading and barely even reaching gold status (if it's lucky).
He'll probably be dropped from his label for the second album and go "indie". |

Red Guitar should have been his first single. It is also written by him so the angle would have made for good chat play on the talk shows. Play up he is the
singer/songwriter/musician. I live in Arkansas and all my coworkers who voted for him like beasts are not buying his music.
 I played my copy of Red Guitar and they loved it. I think I got him a couple
more sales with that.  I'll keep working on it. Next week
I'll be playing Adam's album as they walk by my office. I'll tell the guys an album purchase comes with a free tongue bath from Adam if they buy
the deluxe edition.
