Actually it's more of a thread of people who have a brain bashing religious morons like Laura and the people who support her. Laura was right to compare
herself to Sarah Palin, a woman with an IQ just above retarded.
And Shambo may herself be somewhat religious (and may believe her siblings are in Heaven) but for Laura to tell a stranger that their family is "better off" as if she personally knows there is a Heaven is socially and mentally retarded. The counter argument is "why did Shambo pour her heart out to a stranger who she doesn't get along with?". I'll just say that Erik was completely right when he made that comment about everyone knowing that Shambo is certifiable, so if you argue with her you're really just being a bitch; and for the record Laura brought up Shambo's family and mentioned her dead sister first. |

Laura was devoid of compassion for a badly-suffering human being sitting right next to her. Period.
Neither her religion or lack thereof, nor Shambo's laundry list of problems and accopmanying self-pity, alter that fact. That their respective behaviors makes each of them fairly hypocritical is perhaps delicious icing on the cake, but the underlying act of pitiless self-interest remains. Stop confusing the two and adding your own religious/anti-religious baggage onto it. Geez. |

well this situation (watching people on tv and developing opinions) is different from real life. In reality I treat everyone I meet with friendly indifference
until I get to know their character. Though my Laura bashing may seem to stem from my lack of respect for her religious beliefs that is certainly not the case.
I liked Laura (even though I knew she was religious) up until this last episode where she chose to throw her beliefs in Shambo's face with no regard for
Shambo's personal beliefs. What if Shambo isn't religious and doesn't believe in an afterlife? Laura has some nerve to impose her credibility
lacking fairy tale fantasies on a stranger; pathetic social and mental skills on her part. She could have won Shambo over by fake crying with her, hugging her,
and saying she was sorry about everything that happened between them and to start over. She's either too proud to do that or is a moron who doesn't
recognize opportunity.
Many religious people are good people with kind hearts and I'm kind back to these people (even though I can't respect their beliefs). However, hypocritical bible thumpers who preach or talk about religion with utter certainty open themselves up to ridicule and I'm happy to oblige and call them morons, which they are. That's a prudent judgment based in fact. |

Laura is still my favorite of this season, but however many dumb things shambo does and is she is still a person. The fact is that somepeople are more
compassionate than others. I'm sure that if someone was irritating me for 26 days I wouldnt be all huggy with them but Laura should have showed just a
little more compassion when discussing a dead relative, especially the way Shambo broke down. The heaven comment didnt bother me cause I'm religious and
its my faith and I would make that comment to someone (maybe a better choice of words) who lost someone. Anyway, they are there own people so lets just leave
it at that.
