Anyone else think Brett had his swan song? Boost in airtime in episode 10 and now the recap. Very Sydney-esque.
Which is why I bumped him down on my winner's list.

Okay I have this argument all the time with a friend on AIM, so I wanted to weigh in with you guys.
Do you think they are villifying Shambo or trying to make her the underdog hero? To me, it seemed like the recap highlighted all the moments that Galu alienated her and that she is now seeking revenge for. Like the Laura/Shambo scene, it came across like Laura was just very cold "..well theyre better off..." *punch*. It just came across frustrating. You wanted Laura to give her a hug or console her or SOMETHING and she didn't do anything. And then the scene with Dave talking to her like a child and she was like... uh fuck off. I don't know am I misreading this? How do the editors want us to view Shambo? |

Despite your personal feelings though, I'm not alone in thinking that they are trying to make us sympathize with Shambo, despite her potential craziness.

Usually when the tone is that wild and random the N tone wins out on most viewers in my opinion (think Dreamz, and S11 Steph). I thought the scene of Shambo crying was mixed at best for her, the stuff she said about Laura seemed uncalled for based on what they actually showed us. |

Mypoody, I think that her edit is likely tied into what eventually happens to her.
Her P tone is reflective of her role in bringing Galu down and helping Foa Foa win; her glimpses of stupidity and N tone are meant to condition us for her coming to a sticky end, probably one of clueless betrayal. Yet it will probably be intended for us to be sad when she goes. |

The problem with that is that there's not really a pattern to what they show in the recaps when it comes to winners. Obviously the big charatcers of the season will be featured in the recap, but winners visibility in the recaps has been all over the place. |

I think Shambo's portrayal is just fair to her actual self. At first she was a sympathetic character, but now I can't understand how anyone
wouldn't see her as a psychotic hag. That side of her seems like it'll continue next week with all the psychic power trippin' stuff. <3

Shambo's edit is understood with the need to have the audience root against Laura and for Foa Foa. For that, we had to feel for Shambo. Now that
Laura's gone, sympathy for Shambo is no longer needed.
The same reasoning explains Kelly and Brett's edit. Those two were likable but, unfortunately, were friends with Laura. If we had known them more, we would have cared for them and would have been on Laura's side. Now is a good time to get to know Brett. |

Erm... disagreeance on Kelly. Maybe Brett, but Kelly was more bitchy towards Shambo than Laura herself. Didn't she have some line about Shambo being like
trailer trash and then winning the lottery or something equally appalling.

I'd say Shambo's early P tone had more to do with making the audience root for Foa Foa than rooting against Laura. It's a little bit like the chicken-and-egg argument but Laura's negative edit was itself a means to achieving the end result of making Foa Foa look good. If it wasn't for that, there would not have been any need to go to the extremes they went to with Laura's edit. The entire Laura v Shambo antipathy had more to do with Foa Foa than with each other. |

I realize that this episode isn't to be used for edgic purposes and there hasn't been any real pattern to it for the winner; however, since Jaison
is my edgic pick, I thought to share my thoughts with having just watched it.
Jaison was the idea man and Natalie the executioner to get Eric booted, also in 'hero' role.
Now we know the story of Jaison's life. Guys who don't play by the rules getting ahead of the guys who do, and we know that he plays by the rules.
"He needs to win." (Yeah, I realize probably a stretch to put a winner's quote in the recap.)
Jaison is the good to Russell's evil. Jaison voted winner as the 'story of his life' is now changed and the good guy wins.

Jaison winning this season could possibly be the only good thing to come out of all of this. He's been consistently shown and has been erratic but not as
much as Shambo.

Getting real, I realize that we have similar views of Shambo's edit but my response was for your post # 4134 where you quoted me, opened up your argument in rebuttal form ("I'd say Shambo's early P tone had more to do...") and then proceeded to say the same thing I did. After your post, ZombieLinda was still unsure of Shambo's edit so I added my view. Simple as that.

Right now, the BEST final 3 would be Russell, Shambo, and Jaison. Those 3 have the best edits and would make an interesting finale.
