I'm seriously sick of Team challenges during post-merge rcs! They used to do it once per season but now they have like 5 and right now they already have 2
and both were teams of 5 vs teams of 5 its ridunkulous.
I mean seriously! They are just too many enjoying the rewards! Especially this is not tribal challenges anymore. |

JLK Name wrote:Yeah, it's getting ridiculous. If you want more people interacting on reward trips, at least have the winner choose the other folks who get to go along. That kind of choice gives the show another opportunity for good and bad strategy. Heck, even deciding whether to go all out for an individual RC win can involve some trade-offs. |

Speaking of getting to choose who goes on reward with them, they haven't had a coconut-chop type challenge yet. Both are good for mixing things up after a
merge. (Not that Galu needs any help with self-destructing...)

If I recall correctly, in Probst's blog last season in the F7 episode, where they had the 'coconut chop' style challenge, he said they weren't
going to do a challenge like that for a while because the contestants all expect it and pre-conspire the answers to the questions.. I guess they could still do
the chopping part with Samoan trivia, but then you lose a lot of the entertainment value.
And how do we know that the above screencap of Shambo/Monica is from an upcoming episode and not from a scene we haven't seen? The scene where Russell sets the chicken free is a moment from the recap episode... but then again, when has Shambo ever led the charge against a man? |

Probst didn't say they weren't going to do the chop challenges anymore, I thought, just that they weren't going to do the "Which person is
least deserving?" Q&A stuff for a while.

^^ Agree
If they do plan an Ep 11 challenge for three groups of three, each team would most likely have 1 female and two males . |

I watched a choppy version and we can confirm with the screencaps later, but I guess the two challenges in the next episode are the Auction and some sort of
Endurance challenge?

The endurance challenge looks like Immunity.
The timber beam is connected to the survivors through a knotted rope. It looks like they do a time limit at each knot. As the Survivors go down one more knot the timber leans away from them and they have to counterballence and lean back. Of course there will be a point where they can't hold the beam back. Not sure if short /stocky has an advantage, but I am thinking Russ wins the advantage at Auction, based on they didn't do a close up of his grip and the fact that his pole is straight up while the rest are leaning forward a bit. It looks like Shambo will be the first out! When the caps come out look at John's grip on high up on the knot while everyone else is on the back end as logic would normally dictate. John is a Mechanical Engineer and knows that the pole will not lean as far away holding the "high" end of the knot meaning he will have to counterballance less weight. |

It seems like this would be a challenge which is sized to the participants, but usually when they do those, there are name plates on the apparatus. I'm not
seeing them here. Seems like there's a big advantage to the heavier people.
Interesting the arrangement of colors. Rather than mixing them up in some artistic manner, it starts at one end with a rainbow, then neutrals, then all of a sudden blue. Were they thinking to do this challenge with eight people, and had to stick on an extra platform? ETA Doh! I bet that is the auction advantage position. Pole is lighter, or maybe you get to take a break and sit out one knot. I think what Russell is doing is standing sideways, so that his free hand is dangling further back. (He could hang his fat head back there, too.) It's definitely all vectors, but besides the ones for you and the pole accelerating due to gravity, there's the bend of the arm, too. Wonder if they switch hands when they move to the next knot? Unless there's some crazy allying going on, John, Dave and Monica need this immunity the worst. Core Galu really just needs to outlast the three of them.

blue - natalie
white - monica peach - russell black - shambo red - mick orange - brett yellow - john green - dave purple - jaison since brett, john, dave & jaison all appear to have their hands at the same knot, i would think they would have to move down one knot at set intervals. |

The goal here may not be just endurance. Note there is a plaform on the other side and the beam is square. One person's (Shambo's) beam looks to be
lower than the others. What if the goal is to be the firts person to lower the beam AND walk to the other side? Shambo may have own an adv in being a knot
ahead.

I see what you are saying Croc, only I think it is way more likely that once the beam hits the square pad they are out.

I thinking they have to lower it one knot at a time, and they'd have to hold it for a pre-set time...although you could be right Sam.

I see why Shannon's seems to be lower, look at her right elbow. It is extended while the rest have a bent arm. Once that beam gets lowered there is more
force in the downward direction. This sort of reminds me of a college Physics question.

Nice to have another way to look at it, croc. Good thinking. :)
Shambo will be out early because of her shoulder. In the group photo that includes Natalie, Shambo already seems to be in trouble. birdlady, I loved your post about the arrangement of colors. The blue position comes out of no where design-wise, so could very well be the position for the person who won the challenge advantage.

nothing to do with the challenge but in the pics above, i was looking at the shadows. For a second, i thought Natalie had two poles.....then i realized one of
the "poles" was HER shadow. Man she's wasting away!
