See, I don't get why Russell/Shambo can't both be in the finals and still lose. I mean, it's entirely possible we have a Guatemala situation with
two Stephs instead of one.

May be useless stats, but I thought they were interesting--

Jedi you've really become a boring piece of crap with regards to claiming the show is rigged every other post.Yeah, posts like this really belong in Edgic. Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be in your padded cell? Did they let you out for a walk and you got away from your chain or something? What a class act you are! Russell H- too much tone, too high visibilityFrom that perspective and the edits for TC episodes, Mick does look good. The merge episode was horrible but the recap episode (for what it's worth) was great. Still, has Mick gotten that different of an edit from Ethan in Africa? He's just empty in terms of story and that's what bothers most people about Mick. The numbers are there by default compared to others but the story isn't. For Natalie, the numbers are nowhere even in the ballpark but the story is sort of there. Which is why I have Jaison on the list for winner. This season is SO unorthodox that his fluctuation doesn't mean anything to me. Nothing this season goes with the norm. Nobody who wins is going to work well with any sort of Edgic.

Biggest problem with Mick is the lack of tone. Foa Foa have been the underdogs that made a complete comeback and took down an 8-person tribe with only 4
people. As such, we're supposed to root for them. And as a tribe, they've received a collective positive edit. But then, in this situation,
wouldn't it be extremely easy to give Mick SOME kind of personalized positive edit? Jaison has had several episodes of positivity, even if they've
been balanced out by his quitter edit. Natalie has gotten a few episodes of positivity. Hell, even RUSSELL has gotten a P episode. Mick's only positive
moment came from the first episode, fifteen minutes in, when he made the right picks based on first impressions, and Marisa gave him positive SPV. That's
it. Since then, Mick has been straight narration. No tone. No nothing. Honestly, aside from Brett, Mick has been the flattest character until the recap, in
which he looked like a complete buffoon of a leader (which matches the hypocrisy of "I'm a leader in the OR so I'll take the job" to "I
don't know what I'm doing, so I'll let the racist asshole handle things") I mean, we're supposed to be rooting AGAINST Galu, but Russell
was ALWAYS portrayed as a positive leader on that tribe. Couldn't they have done SOMETHING to make Mick appear more useful? Couldn't they have given
us some sort of confessional PRIOR to the recap?

Kitty Pryde1 wrote:That's my biggest problem with Mick and Jaison's edits, the editors have passed up the opportunities to make them look useful to their tribe, to make it look like they were more then just votes in the battle to turn the tides against Gelu. If Mick or Jaison won then shouldn't we be getting more game confessionals from them now that we're in the merge? Shouldn't Mick and Jaison be getting credit for something? I mean heck, why can't they get the credit for thinking up the plan to get rid of Erik, or for Russell to idol Kelly? I mean we saw Jaison suggest they throw 4 votes against Erik, so why didn't the recap say "then Jaison got the idea of Foa Foa targeting Erik, and his plan worked when Foa Foa got Gelu on board with getting rid of Erik"? Instead we hear it was all Natalie who got Gelu to take out Erik, Natalie got the credit over Jaison and Mick, it's not even mentioned that it was Jaison's idea originally. Then the next episode, surely Mick and Jaison explained in a confessional why Foa Foa was targeting Kelly, they could have shown that instead of just making it be that Shambo suggested it so they went with her. And the episode after that, it was a 5/5 tie (with Mick and Jaison not given any credit for getting Shambo on Foa Foa's side and causing the tie in the first place), and who do we see get John on their side? Russell, not Mick or Jaison. The editors couldn't even be bothered to make it look like it was all Mick or Jaison's genius idea for Russell to run to John and tell him about how Gelu was trying to get Foa Foa to throw their votes at him. Instead the editors choose to give Russell and Natalie all the credit for Foa Foa managing to turn a 8-4 disadvantage for Foa Foa into a 5 to 4 advantage for Foa Foa. Now the winner hasn't usually gotten all the credit for turning things around, for example Chris was shown needing Scout (or was it Twila?) to spell out how to flip things at the F7, but then it was Chris who was shown talking to Eliza in order to flip things on Ami, it wasn't someone else who didn't win the game who was shown getting Eliza to flip. Yul was shown talking to Jonathan to get him to flip things in favor of the Aitu 4, not one of the Aitu 4 who didn't win. I could go on, but I'll stop there with the examples of winners from the tribe that was down at the start of the merge getting some of the credit for turning things around. |

Mick- no real issuesHoly shit, you are delusional, aren't you? 1. Lack of tone 2. Low merge visibility 3. Too flat, no CP. Like, I'm personally rooting for Natalie and I admit she won't win, but how can you choose Mick over Jaison at this point? And even Russel at least has a different edit. |

BlakeB717 wrote: These aren't edgic guidelines, so they can't be used at all (according to you). Why can't stats post-merge be used? Post merge is when the winner's story usually picks up anyway. Those stats would NOT present Mick in a great light. How about this stat? Ratings in episodes that the winner won immunity (non-finale): Richard - CP4 Ethan - OTTP5 Vecepia - MORP3 Brian - CPN3 Jenna M. - MORN3, OTT3 Chris - CPP4 Tom - MOR4, CP3, CPN4 Danni - CPP4 Aras - CPP4 Parvati - CP4 Bob - MORP4, CPP3 J.T. - MOR3 I don't see a UTR. I don't even see anything below vis 3. |

Very good analysis, Kitty and MDN. After all, even Ethan, who might be the best precedent for those bullish about the chances of Mick or Jaison, had plenty of
content in his edit. The editors made sure we were aware of his role riding shotgun alongside Lex and Tom.
There is, however, one precedent that might be helpful to Mick/Jaison supporters. When Danni won, it was a single event late in the game that was shown to turn the game in the underdog's favour. Her purchase of the IC clue at the food auction was credited as turning the game to such degree that it was the only footage they showed of Danni at the classic pre-reunion winner's synopsis. I think Mick and Jaison supporters have to be hoping for such an unforeseen game-turning event. Something so unforeseen that would even explain the editing choices that MDN spoke about to this point. However, this type of editing is understandably rare. Even Bob had plenty of early editing pointers prior to his meeting with Sugar that changed the game in his favour. |

If Mick is to win, I think that the recrap explained perfectly why he's been edited this way: he's intentionally playing UTR and isn't highly respected by his tribemates. If they want to edit him as the leader of the underdogs, it doesn't appear that there is any substantial footage to support that edit, so they've been giving him nice MORPish soundclips and not much else. I know it's not exactly Edgic, but just a theory. The recrap says a lot about the winner, I just still haven't figured out what it says yet. |

Except wouldnt they include a major winning explanation on the actual show instead of the recap?

Far be it for me to speak for MDN but I don't think he was saying that they had to edit Mick or Jaison as leaders; just show them contributing something - anything - to the underdog cause. And, yes, SFC, people are posting as if the recap matters. It doesn't. Except in showing what they would've included in the show, had it been in any way important. |

One thing about the recap that DOES stand out for me is that if they wanted to, Russell burning socks/emptying canteens and Natalie killing the rat could have
easily been recap scenes. They would have fit right into everything else that was shown during the recap. There was no actual need to show Natalie killing the
rat in an actual episode if they wanted to keep her as an UTR coattail rider. They're including these scenes of Russell & Natalie to develop them as
players AND people, and Mick is getting neither in the actual show. Sure, he got some strategy and personal development and FTC ties... but they were all in
the recap. If they were important enough to show for whatever reason, they would have cut out Natalie killing the rat and put that stuff in there instead. Keep
in mind that I'm still 100% on board for Russell, but I'm also 100% on board that Natalie is a much better #2 pick than Mick, who has been toneless,
MOR, UTR post-merge (when all winners do ramp up), and his only substantial editing was in a nonessential recap episode which we don't even give ratings or
evaluate once it's aired.

I think the recap can have some significance.
Gabon: set up Sugar's loss with Corinne promising that Sugar wouldn't win. Tocantins: set up J.T./Stephen to be the final 2. |

I think the recap is very significant. It's edited footage so why wouldn't it be just as important as any other episode?

Because they're the scraps of the past episodes.

JaimeCat22 wrote: I agree it's significant in it's own ways, but Edgic has never classified it as an episode used to devise ideas and patterns, so we can't look at it like that unless somehow we change that later on. But for now, it's significant in seeing what was left just for the recap and what actually made the real episodes themselves. I think the fact that Russell & Natalie's recap-worthy scenes being in regular episodes, and Mick's strategy scenes being left for the recap speaks volumes about who really matters and who really has a chance to win. |
