Whose pole is almost straight up? Is that Jaison? In the closeup, he looks like he has a couple of knots to go, where Dave is at the, er, end of his rope. |

It seems that Jaison has at least one knot advantage on everyone, this is probably the advantage he bought at auction. I bet the reason it is sealed is because
it is opened at IC.
The very end of the rope doesn't have a knot so it is all grip strength at that point... except for Jaison who still has knots. Looks like they used two eight foot 2 x 6 pieces of lumber sandwiched together. I don't think that both together couldn't weigh more than 50 pounds. It doesn't appear that the challenge is fitted for the contestants, the straighter you can keep the post the less force from the rope is needed. You can do that by bending the elbow. Natalie's elbow is straight and her post is way lower than everyone else. How tall is Natalie? Seems like the taller you are the better your advantage because you can direct the force for the rope at a higher angle, the optimum angle for the rope is perpendicular to the plank, of course as it leans downward it becomes impossible to do this. This would be a neat Physics problem for Bob's kids to attack in school. |

IF jaison wins the advantage and IF it's to not have to move down knots when others have to, it must happen partway through. In a screen cap on the
previous page, Jaison, Dave & John all have their hands between the 6th and 7th knot from the bottom. The competition is underway at that point. In the
caps just posted, Jaison is now 2 knots up the rope from Dave. Somewhere between the first and second caps, Jaison cashed in his advantage.
I'm thinking the winner gets to choose when he/she can cash it in. He might be able to cash it in, then stay at the same spot while ev1 else keeps going down two more sets of knots. But I'm thinking it's more along the lines of being able to move up the two knots. He waits until they run out of knots, cashes it in and moves up the 2 knots. All the while knowing that ev1 else has no more knots and will likely be dropping like flies. It's the most opportune time to cash it in. Any earlier and the stronger ones could outlast him but with no knots to hold onto, even the strongest of players will give out quickly. |

I would assume John would rather vote Jaison out after the "I'm coming for you" stuff from the recrap. Jaison proved his argumenting ability during the Ben Boot TC, so if I were Russ, Jaison is the bigger final threat. BTW, we all know Russ will not vote for a FF yet.

Good spec Sam...Jaison is a very articulate speaker and definitely poses a threat at Final TC. Jaison is also intelligent enough to save his $$ for something
valuable.

Right now there is the possibility of another swing vote because quite frankly Shannon is a loose canon and Foa Foa is still down. Sure Shambo is Anti Galu but
she has to see she is fifth wheel for Foa Foa and also for Galu.
There is no way FF and afford to lose anyone right now, so who ever Survivor picks as the misdirection boot (Mick) don't buy it.

Russell probably wants to take Shambo to the final TC. She'd be absolutely hated on by Galu. ...But I think Sam is right, if Shambo isn't stroked she
could easily vote a different way. As she out it there is no purple or yellow anymore.

I still don't seem to be able to post images so it makes things a little difficult on this end. I just updated Internet Explorer so I think something
horked up, but since this Challenge seems to be fairly saucered and blown not sure we need much follow up speculation.
If you look up at the cap with the survivors in line, the one with Natalie so far lower than the rest, it looks like Natalie's post is at a 45 degree angle, while the rest look to be about a 60 degree angle. This is one of those physics problems, dealing with fulcrums, and I can tell you that the force at the center of gravity of the post is about 70% of the weight of the post for Natalie, while the rest are dealing with 50%. Because the rope position is not at the center of gravity, it complicates the problem, and the rope is not being pulled in the optimim angle (90% to the post) further complicates it.... however, the 70% vs 50% relationship holds true. I assumed this challenge was unfair because I think the taller people have an advantage, and for the same height the heaver person has a huge advantage which also seems unfair. But if you notice, the survivors seem to be placed in order of height. I think they must have the contraptions set up to make it fairer for everyone. If you get to the end of the rope then turn around and face the other direction and push out with the rope you could get an advantage on everyone there! ...just a thought. |

Here are some vid-caps for ya Sam..since you seem to know your fulcrums.A question for ya...If the rope was put in the two 2x6's at a different place in height on the pole...wouldnt that compensate for the difference in the height of the castaways...therefore making it the same angle for all...no mater there height......

And it actually does appear (to me, at least) that the poles are different lengths for each person. Just compare Natalie's with Dave's or Jaison's:
If we're to assume that the painted, coloured bands on everyone's poles are the same size, you can tell that Natalie's pole is a bit shorter based on the spacing between the two coloured bands, as compared to that same space in Jaison or Dave's pole. In Natalie's pole, the area between the two blue regions appears to be a little bit bigger than the size of the upper blue region, whereas in Jaison's pole, the space between the two purple regions looks to be about twice the size of the upper purple band.
So looks like everything's been built in proportion to each contestant, and then Jaison gets his one-knot advantage or
something...

Lol, this is weird I can explain all the details and show you how the challenge works only I can't post the figures I would need to explain things.
It's a catch 22 John is a "rocket scientist" so he should know how to work this challenge. Actually he is a mechanical engineer and SEG has taken
some liberties. The thing John is doing, check were his grip is with respect to the knot. He is holding the rope closer to the other knot. This gives him a
little of the same advantage Jaison won, less slack on the rope. That little bit makes a big difference
