Based on the media coverage you would think Adam was the winner of American Idol.

As someone who did not watch this season of American Idol, this is exactly what I thought- I forgot that Kris was the winner. However, I was expecting sales of Kris' and Adam's albums to be much closer than they were. 80k is terrible for an Idol winner, and Kris will be lucky to sell gold. Adam's debut sales are more in line with what I was expecting, though if he doesn't have a hit single already, he'll need one to keep his album from falling off the charts.

I said this a long time ago: Kris Allen's stuff, while good, is too low-key to really do well in the way that Idol does things. It needs a slow build, low heat. His winning this competition was probably the worst thing that could happen to him, because Idol thrusts people out there quickly and dumps them if they do not ignite immediately. Kris's style just does not set most people on fire instantly, like that. He needs to do coffee houses and the like to get a faithful audience; but he just never could do that as an Idol winner. Also, since many of those who voted for him were voting AGAINST the demon called Adam Lambert, they never planned to buy his CD anyway.

You have heard him sing, right? Don't get the entire Lambert has no talent whatsoever comments. He may be a douche to some, but he can sing.

It seems Lambert outsold Lady Gaga, coming in behind Hag face Boyle with about 230k.

Susan Boyle did it on talent alone and sold twice what he did.

I don't believe anyone that is discovered on a reality TV show ever truly did it on talent alone. Same for people who crossover from TV to music. Or have famous parents.

how many stories have we seen about SuBo's mental breakdown and her fragile state of mind and questions on whether she can handle the fame? I rarely see anyone commenting on her singing. Hell, even when she first became known it was less about her actually singing and more about the fact that she was unattractive. People prejudged her based on her appearance... that is the story... not her voice.

It WAS about her voice. No one believed for a SECOND that she could sing well and the audience can be seen rolling their eyes before she began the audition. As soon as she belted out I Dreamed a Dream, she had the audience screaming in delight because she DOES have such a marvelous voice, because she CAN sing well, and she DOES have talent.

Maybe you should check out the 80 million views youtube video. People are commenting about her voice all the time. The reviews on her album even say that the songs don't do her voice justice.

That took all of a whole week that Eraser could bare being away from Sucks, lololol.

I don't think the number of versions mattered too much. Maybe a few bought all of them, but I doubt many did.

I'm obviously a Kelly lover and I didn't buy her basic and deluxe versions. That's just stupid.
Or even for David Cook. I bought one version and downloaded the bonus tracks elsewhere.

Let's face it. People who can "do it on talent alone" and don't want the hype should stay the Hell away from Idol. A TV show like this IS hype. It's what they do. I can't believe we are this many months down the pike and people are still having the same silly Hatfield/McCoy fights. Pass me the moonshine.

Kris' CD is way better than Hedley's new one too.

I wonder if Adam will sell more than Craig Sharpe did, I mean they're kind of similar if you think about it. They have that same kind of vibe.

Hedley's CD is really growing on me. I haven't listened to Kris' yet.

I watched the season religiously, I voted for Kris during the finale and even I forgot he won until I read it in one of the many stories about Adam in the media last week.
