Far be it for me to speak for MDN but I don't think he was saying that they had to edit Mick or Jaison as leaders; just show them contributing something - anything - to the underdog cause. Indeed, the fact is Russell is leading his alliance, and it'll likely come up at th FTC, which means they couldn't show Natalie/Mick/Jaison as the leader of Foa Foa. But that's still no excuse to not show Mick and Jaison doing something to help their alliance, they could have given some of Russell's footage to one of them to show off their game, but they chose not to.

(Ethan in the market with the kids playing soccer, Aras finally beating Terry, Danni the underdog who made relationships with Steph and Rafe, etc.). At the time Mick won immunity, the story was all about Laura, Russell, and Shambo. (of course it's been that way for the past 3 episodes).

So by those guidelines Mick is the best edgic choice. Of course Russell, Natalie, Shambo, Jaison or someone else could win. But that just means edgic was unsuccessful this season.

Pre-merge should carry much more weight than post-merge, from an edgic perspective. The way I see it, pre-merge eliminates people (not by boot but by editing) and post merge strengthens edits. I would most compare Mick to Danni actually. He's been more present, but has about as much importance to the story and about as much tone, maybe even less. But Natalie is Debbie from S18 at best.

Mick has gotten P votes in Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode Seven, and Episode Eight, so it isn't like he has been completely static since the first episode. If say a player gets 0.400 in positivity every episode, but it just barely misses the P majority, would we say that they've been totally toneless? I don't think it's a fair argument to say that the editors have shafted Mick in tone. It's pretty clear that he's received a lot of this "Foa Foa needs to make it through" airtime, which is pretty positive whether it warrants a full-on P or not. At least that's how I see it. Why does Mick have to appear useful? It's pretty clear, in reality, that he wasn't a very good leader and he probably hasn't done all that much to help Foa Foa succeed in the merge. However, he's been given praise for his leadership right off the bat and in the merge episode Russell said that every member of Foa Foa was doing their part of infiltrating Galu. Why was Mick spared of negativity as a leader on Foa Foa, even though they were probably one of the worst tribes in history? Why has Mick consistently got confessionals/some kind of airtime, even though in reality he isn't doing much? Why not completely shaft him and neglect him in editing? To me, if Mick lost, they could have easily given him a way worse edit. That isn't to say his edit is amazing, but there are plenty of things they're doing with his edit that they don't need to bother doing if he loses.

That's my biggest problem with Mick and Jaison's edits, the editors have passed up the opportunities to make them look useful to their tribe, to make it look like they were more then just votes in the battle to turn the tides against Gelu. If Mick or Jaison won then shouldn't we be getting more game confessionals from them now that we're in the merge? Shouldn't Mick and Jaison be getting credit for something? I mean heck, why can't they get the credit for thinking up the plan to get rid of Erik, or for Russell to idol Kelly? I mean we saw Jaison suggest they throw 4 votes against Erik, so why didn't the recap say "then Jaison got the idea of Foa Foa targeting Erik, and his plan worked when Foa Foa got Gelu on board with getting rid of Erik"? Instead we hear it was all Natalie who got Gelu to take out Erik, Natalie got the credit over Jaison and Mick, it's not even mentioned that it was Jaison's idea originally. Then the next episode, surely Mick and Jaison explained in a confessional why Foa Foa was targeting Kelly, they could have shown that instead of just making it be that Shambo suggested it so they went with her. And the episode after that, it was a 5/5 tie (with Mick and Jaison not given any credit for getting Shambo on Foa Foa's side and causing the tie in the first place), and who do we see get John on their side? Russell, not Mick or Jaison. The editors couldn't even be bothered to make it look like it was all Mick or Jaison's genius idea for Russell to run to John and tell him about how Gelu was trying to get Foa Foa to throw their votes at him. Instead the editors choose to give Russell and Natalie all the credit for Foa Foa managing to turn a 8-4 disadvantage for Foa Foa into a 5 to 4 advantage for Foa Foa. Now the winner hasn't usually gotten all the credit for turning things around, for example Chris was shown needing Scout (or was it Twila?) to spell out how to flip things at the F7, but then it was Chris who was shown talking to Eliza in order to flip things on Ami, it wasn't someone else who didn't win the game who was shown getting Eliza to flip. Yul was shown talking to Jonathan to get him to flip things in favor of the Aitu 4, not one of the Aitu 4 who didn't win. I could go on, but I'll stop there with the examples of winners from the tribe that was down at the start of the merge getting some of the credit for turning things around. I think this is where we are tossing logic to editing out the window. In reality, the reason Galu was destroyed was definitely because Natalie infiltrated the girls, no question. The winner doesn't have to be responsible for doing things. If Mick and Jaison didn't have any part in it, then how do you expect them to be shown as useful? Natalie and Russell are the ones playing the game, Mick and Jaison are kind of going along for the ride. Bob didn't do anything except make idols, he wasn't useful strategically because he didn't really play the game. Same could go for both Mick or Jaison: they just aren't doing anything. I'm not sure what the point of them getting a confessional about what happened at the previous TC would do for their winner chances. It's not a big deal.

Mick winning immunity, he must've given SOME sort of confessional about finally beating Laura, or we could've gotten acknowledgement from Russell for beating Laura. But instead, we got nothing about Mick's win at all.

We saw him being actively complex strategic in the recap. But they chose not to show that when it mattered. And, on a side-note, please, please don't keep re-quoting entire posts. It's driving me bananas!

Several of those P votes were from you, as you've admitted with your chart featuring 3 Ps for Mick, which seems more like a desire to be proven right and to make the numbers fit your theory, rather than making your theory fit the numbers. Episode 2, Mick was basically shown throwing P Betsy under the bus while defending NN Ben, so no P there. Episode 3, Mick was once again siding with NN Ben, and failed to make fire, so no P there. Episode 7 was Mick's lowest pre-merge visibility and even then, Russell, Liz and Jaison all got Ns, so it's entirely possible people voted P just for not being N. And episode 8 was Mick's UTR1 at the merge, where we get into the collective editting stuff that you called bullshit on in terms of Natalie/Ashley. So don't act like Mick was really P in those episodes. Only ONE episode did he skew positive, and that was the premier, and even then, it was more of a "had to be shown" situation. Mick was elected leader and picked the players that led his team to the win, so of course he's gonna get positive SPV. Nothing manipulated about that. As for usefulness, first off, you can't use the "Foa Foa was shown positive" edit, because Jaison, Natalie and Russell have ALL gotten personalization. Mick was shown being unable to make fire and handing the reigns of his tribe to a racist asshole after he said, in the first episode, that he would be a good leader. He has been completely ignored in terms of personalization, aside from stuff that HAD to be shown because he's the leader. And you know why Mick was given confessionals? Because he was the appointed leader of Foa Foa. They can't devote ALL of the screentime to Russell, so why not let the shitty leader narrate for his tribe? And that is literally all Mick has done for his tribe, narrate about how hard it is for them to keep losing. Note just how much his visibility dropped off once we got to the merge, while Natalie, Russell and Jaison all did well for themselves. Look at prior seasons like this: Cook Islands and Tocantins. A minority pulled off an upset and overcame huge odds to have a winner come from their tribe. At the mutiny, Yul got a boost of positivity he hadn't received since finding the idol in episode 2. And at the merge, his edit picked up in a huge way. In Tocantins, the episode where Jalapao officially went into the merge down in numbers, J.T. got his first CP, and then followed that with a CPP and OTTP. If Mick won, they could've EASILY given him a ton more fluff confessionals and let us get SOME personal insight into him as a character. Hell, he was elected leader. They wouldn't just IGNORE his poor leadership. They have hours upon hours of footage. It would be extremely easy to make some kind of decent scene for him as a leader. It's like people have said: if the person from the initial twist went on to win, don't you think they would play that up? I mean, even showing Mick doing work around camp would be enough. I doubt he was lazy and slept in the shelter all day.

It's driving me bananas! The recaps have changed a bit since Gabon or China (I forget which). They've been focusing more on players still in the game and setting up some parts of the post-game. I don't think they're important to Edgic charts/stats because it is a recap, but patterns have shown that the recap has some significant in setting some things in the story up. They remind us of things we haven't picked up on. Mick's recap edit was excellent, but because it was in the recap means that is has absolutely no significance? Why would the editors do that? It's not like when they put together the recap they said 'OK remember to follow Edgic and anything you put in this episode has no significant'. Winners don't get the shaft in these newer recaps. Winners don't look stupid in the recap (i.e. Amanda's only confessional saying "I think we'll win the upcoming challenge" then losing). Natalie hits both of those flaws. Please don't support her, it's driving me bananas! Nobody knows the trouble I've seen..... Nobody knows my sorrow....

The problem with comparing Mick to Danni is that Danni was the last one standing. Her entire tribe got picked off, one after another. Mick's tribe has not only NOT been picked off, but they're actually thriving. Pretty much the only way Mick wins, based on what we've seen, is if he's against two Galus, which isn't what the editting has been leading us to believe. I completely believe that the next 4 boots will be Brett/Dave/John/Monica, leading to Shambo/Foa Foa at the final five. Danni was a respectable win because she, alone, triumphed over adversity. Mick and Jaison were only part of "the four". No mention of their names.
