Me too. It used to be that comments sections would be full of global warming advocates, but in the last year or two there has been a decisive shift to the skeptics side. Even here, I'd guess that quite a few firm believers have shifted to at the very least skepticism if not outright disbelief.

I guess the old days of people voting for what they think is the best candidate are long gone - last election I voted for people from three or four different parties (I do automatically vote for who ever runs against Sheila Jackson Lee)

So, what we've learned is that a study that was one of the foundations of proof of global warming was based on a study where the data was massaged, the original data was never released for peer review, and is now lost. And despite this, there was a "consensus of scientists" who believed that global warming had been proven beyond all doubt.

This is going to be a huge black eye for the scientific community. Despite that, the faithful like UC, spring, Nubber, etc. will be like Fox Mulder and continue to believe.

While it's very distressing, unfortunately scientists fudging the data is nothing new. But the Piltdown Man hoax didn't destroy the truth behind evolution. Merck hiding the real risks of Vioxx doesn't lessen the fact that is was the most effective arthritic medicine on the market. There is other evidence from other scientists that still suggest that the earth is heating up as a whole and that man is speeding up the process. If you culture a petri dish with bacteria it eventually dies from it's own toxins. Yet you maintain that a population of nearly 7 billion humans swarming the planet has no effect on it.

Despite that, the faithful like UC, spring, Nubber, etc. will be like Fox Mulder and continue to believe.

Like I said before, it's the rabid right that brings up the religious references, not those that 'believe'. Why does it bother you so that people honestly feel that the current evidence weighs in favor of mankind influenced climate change? I also think the earth is several billions of years old and that stem cells have the potential to usher in a new golden age of medicine the way the discovery of antibiotics did. Does that threaten you as well?

Um, dumbass? People who still blindly believe that the current evidence weighs in favor of manmade climate change, even in the face of the newly released OVERWHELMING evidence that the entire idea is a fraud, are justifiably lumped in with the religious nuts who think the Earth is only 3,000 years old. They refuse to see the scientific truth, like the flat-Earthers and Earth-centric universers before them.

They are exactly the same sort of stupid.

There's still the little matters of the coral reefs dying, the icebergs melting blah blah blah. If you desperately want to believe that this one study - and it's a serious violation of scientific ethics - throws out the whole climate change theory go right ahead. Really, time will tell which group is correct and probably sooner rather than later.

When you go to a doctor and s/he prescribes an antibiotic for your infection is it faith that you think it's going to work? Or just the fact that statistically it has proved itself effective? I mean you didn't brew the stuff yourself so how would you know if it's going to work?

Were those hoaxes being used to drive legislation through Congress that will dramatically increase the price of energy? No?
The "Man made" climate change hoax is being used to push Cap & Trade.

There is other evidence from other scientists that still suggest that the earth is heating up as a whole and that man is speeding up the process.

There is also evidence that there have been much warmer periods is Earth's history well before the rise of man. There is evidence that climate change is now happening on other planets and its root cause is changes in the Sun.

You must try really hard to be this fucking stupid.

This "one study" is the fucking BASIS for the entire global warming / climate change scam. The guy who lost his data is the goddamn Dalai Lama of climate change. All of the subsequent studies have been based on East Anglia's research, including the IPCC report.

If Congress passes that ridiculous Cap and Trade tax after this fiasco, Washington DC should be burned to the ground.

One scientific study? The CRU is the "premier" global warming scientific base and everything has flowed from there. It is cited in almost every paper, presentation and used as evidence for entire global summits. Al Gore has his face imprinted on every asshole that works there.

There is archeological physical evidence that crops were grown and cattle raised in areas of Greenland that are covered in ice right now during the supposedly hottest time the earth has ever been, but the global warming believers choose to believe the numbers crunched by a scientist pulling ice plugs and having someone else adjust the data for a plethora of known and unknown variables.
