What is the story with the petition about the hiatus? While I will miss the show when it goes on break, it seems as though this is the normal course of shows these days, with many taking long hiatuses mid-season. Obviously, the show is not in danger of cancellation and Fox knows this is its huge hit.

I've been wondering if they were going to slow down production and take a break anyway, because the amount of work that has to go into each episode with learning dialogue for the story, learning new songs & recording them, and learning choreography. That's a lot of work and I'm sure the actors need a break from time to time.

I think a hiatus is good, to give the actors a break and also give the writers time to keep the quality up. They have to figure out what songs to work in with the plots and I'd rather they have time to actually put out good episodes rather than start getting sloppy and just trying to churn out as much as they can one right after the other.
