I think the reunion announced the fan favorites after 12.

Australia: Rodger and Elisabeth. They topped the popularity polls in the high 80's / low 90's. Colby was low 80's by the end I believe, but never topped Liz/Rodger after the first episode. Africa: Jessie had the highest popularity ever at 99% for pre-show/episode 1. However, Ethan was the season's fave in the 90's. Kim P. was low 80's by the end, while Big Tom and Teresa were high 70's. Marquesas - Gina was the highest almost all season long, with Hunter overtaking her sporadically. Kathy was almost never near the top, surprisingly. Paschal was the third highest in the low 80's. Thailand - Sook Jai was much more popular than CG. Shii-Ann, Jake, Ken, and Tanya topped the polls consistently. Amazon - Matthew was the most popular by season's end, with Butch in second. Christy was consistently high until her vote off. Pearl Islands - Rupert, obviously. Sandra was second. Darrah was third by a mile by season's end. All Stars - Rupert. Duh. Vanuatu - Chris was the highest by season's end, with Chad not too far behind. Palau - Stephenie, obviously. She reached 97% at one point. Bobby Jon #2. Guatemala - Danni and Stephenie. Exile Island - Terry #1. Cirie #2. I was doing the Fan Favorites, the people who would have own the $100,000 award at the end of the season if it had existed at the time. And I respectfully disagree that Gina, Jake, Matt, Chris, or Danni would have won the consolation prize. They may have had the highest percentage of popularity in terms of the online polls, but back then, you were forced to give a ranking to every person, which inevitably leads to the more polarizing characters being kept out of contention for a high popularity ranking. Someone like Gina could stay on top because almost nobody disliked Gina and almost nobody was going to give her a low rating. But does that mean Gina had enough avid supporters to garner the necessary $100,000 prize votes? I don't think so. I think the large support for Kathy would propel her into a win there, even if she had her detractors. Same goes for Helen or Shii Ann in Thailand, Cesternino or Christy in Amazon, Eliza in Vanuatu (although I could see Chris getting it), and Stephenie in Guatemala. Your post definitely makes sense, and I could see your points for Gina and Jake. But Matt, Chris, and Danni are pretty much clear cut. Here's why: Way back when, pre-merge boots weren't as random and unpopular as they are now. The general audience forgets about pre-merge boots now, but people like Jessie, Carl, Gina, Hunter were well liked while people such as Silas, Lindsey, etc. were still remembered and hated. Gina was a huge fan favourite, huge fan base. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if she had enough fans to garner enough votes. And I wouldn't count out Paschal either, over Kathy. He was very popular with the general audience, and he was more popular than his counterpart, Neleh, so he'd probably get their fan votes. Jake, once again, was someone that went out on an extremely positive note. Not only that, but the general audience disliked CG compared to the core group of Sook Jai. Their popularity numbers were higher in general, meaning they had a larger fan base (Shii, Ken, Jake). Jake was the biggest character, lasted the longest, and had a PP boot episode, just before the finale. Matt because Rupert-lite popular towards the end of Amazon. With few likable characters (from the edit standpoint), the OTTP hero was going to get the votes. Cesternino wasn't that well liked. He never would have won over Christy, or Matt. I'd even say Butch would get more votes. People liked UTRP castaways back then. The audience was devastated Matt lost, and I think it had more to do with Matt losing than Jenna winning. Chris, once again, became that protagonist the audience was rooting for. As popular as Eliza was here, she was not popular in the general audience whatsoever. They saw her as the annoying motor mouth ... they don't respond well to the OTTN/OTTM edit, even if they get a short semi-redemption arc. Danni is another one that is straight forward in my eyes; the popularity poll they had in Guatemala was not like the previous 10 seasons. It was "Who is your favourite castaway?". That is identical to the "fan favourite" award. Steph led the poll all season until the final 6 I believe where Danni overtook her garnering the most fan fan favourite votes. Given that it was right before the finale, I can't see much changing. Though their numbers were very close, so it was going to be one of them.
