I do like that they tried the F12 merge because it makes sense to merge later when there are more contestants. Plus, there won't be any more jury members
(Lisi) who have to vote for people they never were on a tribe with! I don't see the point of casting ticking time bombs like Mike and Gary. Can you
seriously expect an unfit 300 pound man to overcome their aversion to physical activity and survive? Just don't cast them and go with 18 people instead.
That way, EPMB can still get the double TC and have someone step on a rusty nail and not be out an episode.

Have you noticed that season one had no group reward challenges but as the series has evolved it has become common that very few reward challenges are actually individual challenges? That in some seasons the majority of reward challenges were actually group/team challenges? So it should not be surprising that they have group reward challenges when they still have a lot of people in the game. Why would the producers merge at 12 to save Russell? Russell was in no danger. He had an HII AND there was nothing to indicate the seeds would turn on him if they lost and had to go to TC. IF you mean they saved him so he wouldn't be outnumbered 8-2 if they merged at 10 or 8-1 if they "merged" at 9 I think he would have done just fine...he had an HII and both the 90210 Boys Club and 90210 Girls Club would have wanted to have him in their club to help get rid of the other club. He also had the ShamboSeedling on his side - hard to picture her as a seedling. The McSeed is correct, Russell is a savvy guy and chances are pretty good he could have created post-merge chaos regardless of the number he went into the merge with. Frankly, the Russell Show would be even more amazing if he had gone into the merge down 8-2 and managed to survive so it's against their interest to merge earlier and "save" him when a bigger story could result if they didn't "save" him. |

A smaller cast doesn't necessarily mean a better season as the shittacularly awful China, Tocanshit and Exile Island have demonstrated. I actually don't mind big casts that much, because it makes it less likely that one alliance will dominate from the beginning and the editing is going to be shitty either way. I think 18 is probably ideal.

And I am the only one who doesn't really mind double boot episodes (planned ones)? I think they're kind of exciting and a fun change of pace from the
normal episodes ^_^

Double boot episodes are fine. They usually only take place on a single day so it's not like we miss out on that much character development. What's
worse is when a planned double-boot episode doesn't happen, and we're left with a single-day, single-boot episode (Colby's exit in All-Stars and
Ami's exit in Micronesia, which were unbearably dull episodes).

Those episodes were supposed to be double boots? I never knew that

I honestly don't care that much how big the casts are, HIIs and final 3s bother me a lot more.

I don't mind double boot episodes per se but would rather they handle the double boots differently. For example, make a 90 min epidose which basically is 2
45 minutes shown back to back. That is, I'd rather everybody has a chance to fight for immunity before getting voted out rather than the bad bottle twist
in CI and the other times when a tribe won challenge but still had to go to TC.
