I never got how Bev looked older or as old as Nana Mary. Worst casting on their part, even if it was Shelley Winters.

LOLABINGO wrote:I think the Lopez marathon is over. Now this and the Nanny (<3) are back <3. As for the Becky's, I *think* the story goes that OriginalBecky wanted to leave the show to go to college. Roseanne granted her that, and the storyline where she runs off with Mark was born and executed (LOVE when she yells @ Dan for his failed bike shop btw). Roseanne, for whatever reason, wanted to bring Becky back but OriginalBecky wasn't available hence NuBecky. NuBecky was so different than OldBecky it was just odd...then ABC/Roseanne announced Season 8 would probably be the last season so OriginalBecky came back. That season (Disneyworld episode) they alternated on some eps, why I have no idea. ("I bet you're glad you're here this week). Season 9 came around and NuBecky was permanent but wasn't even IN tons of eps. Darlene also went off to college irl but flew out everyweek to tape the show. Sometimes she filmed scenes separately, like Jackie's wedding where she's super-imposed and it's really obvious. |

She's superimposed, what???
For your information, OldBecky, Lecy Gorson or whatever, sacrificed 4 years of TV-star pay to attend Vassar College. What a mistake. She was the best if you exclude Roseanne, Darlene, Jackie, and sometimes Dan. Best sitcom in the world? Mmmhmmm. |

Becky was useless, Darlene was love<3
was she a lesbian back then? |

I enjoyed old Becky. She was a very good counterpart to Darlene. New Becky was just used as a prop. She said like 2 lines and then leave the room.

The only thing that bothered me was Crystal marrying Dan's dad, having kids (Dan's two half-siblings) with him, then sort of disappearing after that. |

Oh I know you would think when they won the lottery they would have helped them out but no they just forgot about them
And original Becky was great! |

I think the actress that played Crystal didn't get along with Roseanne or something. She disappeared for a while after she got married to Dan's dad (I
liked how they foreshadowed it at the previous Thanksgiving) and then showed up for Roseanne's baby-shower once and that was it. Once the character of
Jackie took off their was really no use for her.
I loved OriginalBecky! She was so believable... a typical oldest child too. And I like how she genuinely cared for her family & doing well in school. They ruined her. I think my favorite seasons are 5 & 6...the bike shop, their money struggles, the pot ep, the early years of the diner (even if it magically "solved" everything), David & Darlene moving in together etc. Plus I LOVED the ep where they found out Nancy was a lesbian. "Oh my God, Artie turned you gay!" "My gynecologist is a lesbian???" "She doesn't look like a lesbian. Lesbians are big old truck drivers who wear flannel and faded jeans" "No! We saw the "I'm a great big old dyke" bumper sticker on her car" "As it turns out, Nancy can have her choice of...well, anyone" Bev thinking their pulling her leg "Oh, aren't you a nice little lesbian? I'm a lesbian, you're a lesbian, we're all lesbians" |

That last line is more ironic considering Bev's character on the show was a lesbian, as was Jackie "in real life" (real life of Roseanne's
world).

great personality wrote: THIS so much. I havent heard about Crystal not getting along with Roseanne. But you hit the nail right on the head when you said that Jackie's character developed and there was no need for Crystal anymore. That's the exact reason she left the show, she was useless. I never really cared for Crystal anyway, and when she left and Sandra Bernhardt came in more this is when I feel the show really took off. Around seasons 5 & 6 as you stated is my favorite era of the show. The bike shop, their money struggles, the pot ep, the early years of the diner, David & Darlene moving in together etc. That was some of the greatest acting of the show and it produced some of the funniest episodes not only in the show's history but I also believe in television history. Another episode I absolutely loved was an Xmas episode where Nancy kissed Marla under the mistletoe and everyone looks so uncomfortable. Seasons 7, 8 and 9 began the decline of the show. |

What the hell was loose meat? It looked like plain ground beef, but who eats that on a sandwich.
