You need to actually handle a gun to see how it fits your hand, and how much recoil it has. Many of the local gun shops will meet you at a range to let you test fire a potential purchase. Get the works, the gun, the gun lock, the cleaners the brushes, and opt for the silencer at home, no need to have the neighbors come over until the cops get there, and no sense waking up the kids and scare them to death with loud noises. Go to gun saftey school and then get a permit to carry. If it's in a car and you get stopped even on the way to the range, tell the cop first thing it's in the car and where.
