Warrior, the cut off for a 4-5 should be at 67 and not 57 making John and Russell 4's and not 4-5
Well John still has a 62 and Russell still has a 65, so that would make them 4-5.

I know this is going to sound drastic, but in a season like this in which the Editing is so wacky, I think you really need to rely more on the logic half of
"edgic". To stress that point, you logically should use everything CBS releases to us in forming your opinion on who is going to win.
The editors give us such an advantage now in seeing the ponderosa clips(which they are obviously taking the time to edit) that even while we don't know for sure who is going to make the final 3 or final 2, we can see who is going to be a bitter jury member and vote out of spite or who is going to be a fair jury member and vote based on gameplay. From what we've seen in the ponderosa clips, none of the Galu members are happy and there is no way Russel is going to win a jury vote. Just as the onions were pissed off in Gabon, we're going to have the Galu tribe deciding who wins, and logically, Russel won't win. |

Initial ratings:
Brett - INV1 Dave - MOR3 Jaison - CPP4 John - MORN4 Mick - MOR3 Monica - UTR1 Natalie - UTR1 Russell H. - CP4 Shambo - OTTN5 |

I almost shed tears every time I look at Bret or Kelly's edgic ratings.

The only thing about Brett's chart that makes me cry is that he was unjustly awarded a 2 last episode when he could've broken the Edgic world record for most 1's in a row. He's infinitely less visible than the superior Catalie g.oddess. |

What happens in Ponderosa or insider clips etc is not related to edgic.
This season has been far more enjoyable since the merge. And what is it with the cameras and crabs? I'm not one to say that any player is portrayed by the crab scenes, but still. Natalie was UTR1, and the shower scene alone made her P in approximately half the audience. Regardless of her tone, she was UTR1. Do her supporters have any doubts now? My goodness, Jaison's edit is getting good. I certainly agreed with him in his conversation with Mick about the stability or lack thereof of Shambo, who was certainly OTTN this episode. I don't care about her Doolittle-esque talk to the chickens. She was nuts. ANd the editing of her "dream sequence" was beat-over-the-head wacko. Then she wants to boil a chicken for two frigging hours? Keee-ryest. IF there was a snippet of P-like sympathy it was overwhelmed by the sheer stupidity of the rest of her edit. And OTH is right - the whole thing with the chicken soup was left hanging... good or bad? Succulent or Shoe leather? We shall never know. It's the second "dangling chicken moment" in a row, considering Russell's "gonna let the chickens go" moment last ep that we saw no resolution of... until this ep, when they were still there. Jaison OTTP? No frigging way. CP all the way with more P than neutral. Did the absolute smart thing by going for the advantage in the auction, had bemused "second thoughts" about his empty belly, especially when we saw Mick chowing down on a burger the size of Rhode Island. That is introspection, getting inside his brain again. Then he wins (not P or N) but has good edit with his man-hug stuff with Dave, then a VERY smart talk with Mick. The guy's edit post merge is gold. If it wasn't for those "wanna quit/just wanna outlast X" comments he would have been my merge choice, and if the edgic gods allowed I'd be truly tempted to change from Mick. Those are IMO the only viable winners based on edgic. Mick? Sigh. was UTRP til the final 15 minutes, then got up to solid MOR3. To me his most interesting stuff was the preview, which doesn't count in Survivor, but his allegory to the story of the snake (see the lyrics to the song, The Snake, "Take me in, tender woman...") was the first SPV observation of Russell that was absolutely spot-on. Probably means he's voted off. Interesting how much we're getting from the jury this season. Russell - Not sure if it was a smart move. He seems to be playing an instinctual game (or is it instinctive???) in that if he has a plan that is reasonably thought out but perceives some sort of new threat he immediately changes his mind and wants to get rid of the threat, RIGHT NOW. If he gets voted out before the end, I think that will be the reason. He was in a strategic pickle, either having to mess up John by not voting for Foa Foa, or mess up Shambo by not voting Dave. He put himself in a Hobson's Choice position. We'll see how it plays out. Winner choices: Mick, Jaison, then far far back is Russell. Maybe 60-35-5 |

The lack of edgic support for Jaison this season is absolutely baffling.

After it's too late? Say it now. If you really think he's the right choice, don't wait for us to all get it wrong first.

Jaime, I understand. You and wallduck have asked the same question, namely the lack of edgic support for Jaison. I think here's why.
I think the edgic'rs were split into two camps. Let's call them the rebels and the traditionalists. It was pretty clear to both camps that the lopsided editing this season was unusual to the point of being unique. I think the two camps' basic thrust could be defined as: Rebels: You're blind to not acknowledge that the edit this season is so overwhelmingly russellcentric that he, or his story, must be part of the end game. And [here is the split into rebel subcamps] A) Russell wins because of the game logic and overwhelming edit. If a true OTTN person ever won, this is how he'd be shown - a brilliant bastard; or B) Natalie wins because she is the anti-Russell in this Russellcentric season, and it's nonsensical to stick to edgic even when the "edgic choices" aren't particularly strong. Traditionals: This is still the edgic thread, and except for somewhat mediocre post merge eps, Mick fits edgic better than anyone else, followed by Jaison. And those are the only two true edgic choices. We acknowledge that this season's edit is bizarre, but nevertheless, until a Russell or a Natalie actually win with their non-edgic edits, it's silly to abandon the edgic hypothesis in mid-stream. And for those in the traditionalist camp, at the merge Mick's overall edit was superiot to Jaison's. So all the rebels would choose RH or Nat, and the Traditionals would gravitate to Mick, leaving Jaison as either 2nd or 4th choice among most edgic'rs. He has always been in my top 2, from the first episode. If he wins I would not be surprised at all. Except for those wanna quit comments, his edgic edit is superb, and I'm beginnning to think it's better than Mick's. |

That's a really good analysis, Scep. You summarized the groups here very well and why we think the way we do. I'd say we could also add the following:
1. Everyone else must be a traditionalist just like me (Blake) 2. Extreme outliers who just ignore Edgic guidelines for winners (Astro) 3. Trolls 4. Oowatanite And for what it's worth, Jaison was in my top 4 for 3 of the 4 first episodes, but his content was really bad for a winner after that point. |

Blake is probably having an orgasm right now due to Mick's first non-UTR episode since the merge.
