This jumped out at me. So why was he chosen? Was it a case of degrees of suckage, the show wanting a ballroom guy, Anya + him, he's not bad to look at...

eta: If they want a "growth" story, they'd be taking a gamble casting less capable dancers, who may or may not improve.

I don't really know, but in Vegas, they acted like Anya was amazing at everything, and then when Pasha was chosen, they said that he really needed to work on other styles, because so far, he was only great at his own (and then Mary exploded with the fact that he was so fantastic at his own style that it didn't matter). I figure, if Cedric made it based on his skills in one style, then Pasha could have as well. I remember the judges seemed genuinely shocked at how well Pasha did at hip-hop and jazz.

I did think that was kind of odd. I'm guessing it was for the male ballroom quota. But there was another ball room guy that made it to the green mile (don't know his name...but it looked like he was friends with Lacey). Then again you had a dancer like Musa who actually failed in every dance routine in vegas, but still made it to top 20 and Kherington who the judges said she was mediocre at every style but still made it to top 20. You also had people like Susie, Jonathan, and Tony who sucked at their own styles but bizarrely made it to the top 20. So in comparison...Pasha's inclusion was fine.

The other funny thing was that in Vegas, was how they perceived Lacey. They told her and the other girl, that Lacey barely made it to the top 20 (implying she was the weakest girl). So I wonder if she wasn't siblings with Benji, if she would have made it or not. Kind of funny they told her that, considering she ended up in the top 4 at the end.


In all honesty Neil should have definitely been cut during the top 16. Jesus had an awesome pop-jazz routine, and a decent krump routine. Danny had a beautiful waltz and a decent jive with Anya. Neil actually didn't really have any impressive routines for his first three dances (his ballroom pieces for top 20 and top 16 were quite terrible and his hip hop was mediocre. The only reason why they were raving his hip hop was because of his gymnastics that he did in the last 20 seconds.). I would dare to say that he didn't really have a stand out routine until his disco with Sara (sorry didn't really like Neil/Lauren's wade robson routine).
