Ever since I can remember people and the media have shoved California down my throat as being the best place on Earth or the only place on Earth that deserves attention. It's constantly a theme and setting in every other movie and song, it's mistaken as the place where all the cool, beautiful people live as well as educated "ahead of the curve" liberals and people living there don't seem to realize there are 49 other states, let alone other countries. Many young people actually buy all these stereotypes, hook, line and sinker by doing everything in their power to move there by the time they reach their 20's. Combine all these things together and it's easy to see why some of us are annoyed by it. And maybe I'm mistaken but isn't the top state in murders and drug problems?

Dont hate on Cali cause the media and young people are retarded. And to answer your question, as of 2007, CA does NOT have the highest crime rate per 100,00 people. The only reason it got this far is because it's the state that's kind of least like a state(except Alaska). This is why Hawaii just misses out on the top half. Hawaii is #26. 25.Ohio I have relatives in Ohio, and I love the diversity of it. You've got black people and Amish people practically sharing the same land, which is win. Sir-Mix-A-Lot, Twilight(I hate to admit it), one of The Real World's best seasons took place here, and it's absolutely beautiful. However, I live here and Washington is just so...behind. It has cool stuff if you're about in your mid 30s and up. Other than that, it's relatively boring, but still criminally underrated. Washington is #24. 23.Colorado Colorado is like the Canada of the U.S.A. Mountains, forests, trees, all that stuff. Hiker's paradise and it's gorgeous as well, which is why it got so high. That's where the love ends though. One of The Real World's WORST(if not, THE worst) season took place here. Plus, one of my close friends is moving to Colorado, so yeah, it pisses me off. Colorado is #23. I feel like I owe something so I'll rank two more states 22.Maryland Baltimore totally ROCKS SHIT OUT. This city doesn't get enough recognition. I can't wait for The Real World 28 Baltimore <3. Anyways, Baltimore literally brought the whole state of Maryland this high(you may interpret that however you'd like). Maryland is #22. 21.Kansas Jiffy Pop's home state! Fierce Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz is from Kansas. I love it because it's just so damn Southern! It's probably the third hickiest state after Texas and Kentucky. And who doesn't love some old-fashioned hicks? Kansas is #21.
