One of the worst things that has happened to Survivor over the years is that they removed the "16 strangers" portion of the game. They could no longer use that line in the opening sequence, because between using the same LA casting agents, and recommendations made by previous Survivors the casting will have these 'coincidences'. And fantastic for Sydney being so honest about seeing an ex boyfriend. I think, probably as Laura and Brett did, they probably kept it to themselves thinking that it would give them an edge in the game. I wouldn't say anything if it was an acquaintance. Somebody really close like an ex would be hard to explain if you made it to F2 with them, and that information got released.

I can't imagine that they were really close friends. Might have just seen each other around a few times. That's really not a big deal.
