On the other hand, there's nothing really epic or creative about the simplicity this season. I wonder if they were saving money on the challenges this season so that next season's challenges will be more epic. In a lot of ways, this whole season's production has just felt really phoned in, like it's just the pre-game for All-Stars II.

It's great when someone who needs it fights for it and wins, then they are gone the next week anyway. Jeff could do a "Guess What Number I'm Thinking" challenge and that would work for me.

The group challenges mean more since that creates the merge dynamics...although the last two seasons negated much of that. I kinda like Dave in this one.

I miss it in the chalanges these days. Seams as though we have some very good swimmers in the group but no swimming chalanges to go along with the tropicle island theam thing. When I go to the tropics or think about it, swimming and diving is theam I see and feal everywhere.

I bet Jaison would have a lot more challenge wins if there were as many swimming challenges as we've had in other island seasons. But instead we get bocce, t ball, and bowling.

Maybe they had big/involved games but panicked after Russell collapsed and quickly needed to come up with new games. I think the bocce ball game was used because Probst was probably called away for an emergency of sorts so they needed a game without a host. We get the t-ball, throwing a rock at a plate/firing a weak-ass cross bow, and now bowling because of the Russell collapse.

The challenges are lamer this season because of spending cuts which is also why they are now filming back to back seasons in the same location. These challenges are more similar to the challenges for the first 4 seasons before they started spending big bucks for challenge design.

I remember Jeff discussing in an interview about Mark Burnett dropping the bombshell about filming back to back seasons in the same location to satisfy the CBS mandate that all their shows cut expenses and Jeff talking about how he will have to adapt to being away from the US for so long. Haven't heard much more about Jeff's dying wish show.

You can get more creative with less money. The challenges are lamer because the challenge peeps have phoned it in for a couple of seasons. Just lazy is all.
