My wife and I have 7 kids. We've been doing this Santa thing for 22 yrs now. Our oldest son figured it out when he was about 5. We both have birhdays on
Christmas day and he noticed that our bithday gifts and Christmas gifts had the same wrapping papper. Our twins are going to be six and they still believe. The
8 and 10 no longer believe but they play along for the twins. Our three oldest are in there early to mid 20's and they're usually to hung over to give
a fuck about Christmas. I'm actually looking forward to the day that I can quit eating those fucking cookies and drinking that damn glass of milk.

In our family, it is traditional that the youngest person in the family is required to believe in Santa until another child is born. Therefore, my husband
"believed" until he was 19. My youngest daughter "believed" until she was 28. My youngest granddaughter is eight. She says she believes but
we think she "believes."

One of them has to be "killed".

My daughter was 7. It was the tooth fairy that did her in. As soon as I told her about that she looked at me like I was retarded and said "no way,
that's you." A few days later she started saying things like "Is there REALLY some giant rabbit that hops around giving out candy and hiding
eggs? ? I mean REALLY?" Within one hour of that one falling, the fateful "Well then, what about santa?" question came up. I actually teared up.
A year later we were talking about disneyland and she said she wanted to go to disneyworld because she thought mickey mouse was there more often. I said "They have the costume at both places." Dead silence. Tiny, tiny hushed voice. "You mean it's a costume?" Shoulda killed myself right then and there. I destroyed the last of her magic unintentionally. That's when I started beating her. The guilt was too much to bear. |

Aw, y'all are jaded.
My 10 year old knows but he "believes" and my 7 year old still really believes. When my 10 year old figured it out he asked if I still "believed". I told him I do believe. That believing in Santa is just believing in good and that it is the spirit of Christmas. We aren't all Jesusy - a rarity in my neck of the woods - but Santa is fun and magic. And, really, Santa brings good shit. |

I don't know what's more retarded, a 10 year old who still believes in santa or the fact this thread gets started every year. Maybe we can combine
this with the towel thread and save some bandwidth.

Last I heard Santa never wanted to steal someone's land, kill all the natives, and claim the land for his own just b/c he didn't want to be a part of a
religion that didn't allow divorce.

HIXIE NEEDS BANDWIDTH!!!
Better not put it in the backpack though. Bandwidth is heavy. It's sad how some of you assholes relish lyiing to your children. And allowing them to lie to you. |

was boot prints in the fireplace one year.

My kids are 17 and 14 and still 50% of their gifts come from Santa. Santa isn't a person, it's a spirit that represents giving, receiving, excitement
and the holiday season. When my kids are adults they will probably still get gifts from Santa and we will all laugh about it. It's about the season and the
spirit, not about lies and misrepresentation.
And I thought I was a Scrooge. |

My son was furious when I told him there was no Santa. FURIOUS. He couldn't believe we lied to him for so long, and really, I'd felt kind of bad about
it a few times over the years.
When my father was alive, he'd call the grandkids and pretend to be Santa. My son always believed it was him. My father also called him on his birthday one year and said he was President Bill Clinton, who chose a few kids every year to call to wish a happy birthday. Long after he stopped believing in Santa, he believed he'd been called by the president. In 8th grade, he had a friend over, and asked me to confirm to the friend that he'd had a call from the prez. It was too funny when I asked him if the prez hadn't sounded mysteriously like Santa, who sounded a lot like his grandfather. We really laughed about it for a long time. The look on his face was priceless. |
