Maybe Dexter is tackled to the ground by security for rushing a crime scene or something. I'm getting nervous for Deb (the previews show Trinity tracking
down Dexter's old/her new apartment), and even Rita a little bit. As much as I hate her I don't want a whole season dedicated to single father Dexter.

Sorry, I'm new to the series, but can someone sum up why so many people hate La Guerta and Deb so much? I can kind of see reason to not like others so much
in the department. Did La Guerta do something unforgivable or something in a previous season that I missed? Is the hate for Deb because she gets herself into
trouble and gets Dexter into trouble as well? I remember in season 1 thinking Deb wasn't the greatest actress, but she has gotten better.

Deb is the biggest foul mouthed skank on cable TV. I like to curse a little myself but having a woman with a mouth like that is plain gross. She also has that
skinny body and alien eyes which make her even more gross.
la Guerta is another bloated bitch who thinks she is the Cuban Queen who can only fuck her way to the top and gain promotion because she is a minority. |

Cross post...
O.M.G! I am back to being PISSED OFF! Dex kills that ( innocent ) trucker to set up a fake Trinity. That wouldn't stand up to investigation! No way that dude was in the cities of the Trinity murders ( That they leave so publicly exposed to visitors at police HQ! ). Why would he chase Arthur to the arcade like an idiot - HE HAS THE ADVANTAGE: HE KNOWS WHERE ARTHUR LIVES!!! Ack, I'm really ready for anything now because the writers obviously are operating in some alternate universe... |

*SIGH*...The trucker wasn't "innocent." For those actually watching the episode, it was revealed that he killed someone with a crowbar and got
off because the police mishandled evidence. He fit the "code" and was helpful/advantageous to Dexter's plot to kill Arthur.
Further...the mistakes he's been making are the entire point of the season. As the scene, done so wonderfully this episode in the home of Arthur himself revealed, Dexter has many sides. Four views on the mirror. And splitting himself into these parts is making him vulnerable. And, if I'm to guess, next season will be about putting himself back together before he screws up irreparably, if he hasn't already. Also, LaGuerta and Batista's storyline was...sweet. A little awkward and out of place at times, but it provided a buffer between the audience and constant tension. The writer's probably felt they've spent 3 years with these characters and to do nothing with them was a little irresponsible. They had to do SOMETHING. And, while I understand the complaints about their story, found it pretty enjoyable. They're both good characters and...on another show...I would have really liked seeing that stuff play out. As for Deb...I couldn't stand her in earlier seasons, but Jennifer Carpenter must have sucked some of the acting talent out of Michael C. Hall by sleeping with him, because lord knows, she's upped her game this season. Besides being more human, she's had some of the most moving scenes this season, bar none. As I was watching tonight's episode, I couldn't help but hope for her award recognition for her this season. She's done well. Props to her. In fact, I'd like to see recognition for all three of them this year. Hall, Carpenter, and Lithgow. Obviously, Lithgow is set to potentially win a Guest Star Emmy for this season. And I would be shocked to see Jennifer anywhere near the awards. But, Michael C. Hall really should be given something...EVENTUALLY...for this character. I've wondered why he hasn't been awarded in the past, and I think it's a mixture of bad timing (Bryan Cranston...rocks...) and the fact that most of the episode had Dexter being very normal. And it's only in little pockets do we see his true psychosis. And maybe the majority of the episode where he's "normal" isn't anything special to Emmy voters. *Shrug* Can't wait for the finale though. |

I've also got to give credit to Jennifer Carpenter, she has really upped her game this season. Deb was the most annoying character in the first two
seasons. But she is actually quite likable now and I think her acting has been very good, especially her breakdown scene after Lundy had died. And her scene
with Christine this week was also stellar stuff.
I'd like to see Dexter take a lot of Emmys next year. But I'm also rooting for Lost, seeing as it's the last season and I'd like to see it win best Drama for sure. I'd also like to see Terry O'Quinn get some plaudits for his role of Locke over the years. |

I have to agree with everything Redmund just said. And most of what Reggie said, except for the LaGuerta/Batista "sweet" stuff. Nobody cares about
them and I could have done without their storyline this season.
I cannot wait for the finale and I actually wish they would have somehow dragged out Trinity for two seasons, because Lithgow has been so great. The ending scene was amazing. "Hello . . . Dexter Morgan!" |

I wasn't a fan of Deb in the beginning either. I didn't care for her foul mouth and she seemed like white trash to me. But she has grown on me this
season. She's still foul-mouthed but now it just seems normal for her. The only payoff to LaGuerta/Batista would be if one of them has to leave the
department. It would be nice to have someone new. It might open the show to a new direction. Maybe another Doakes-type character could be introduced. I
agree about Deb finding out about Dex. I think they are laying the groundwork for it. I guess it's inevitable that she eventually finds out the truth.

I don't mind LaGuerta and Batista as characters, but if you're going to make their relationship a subplot it needs to tie into something bigger and
important. Quinn's love life and Deb's love life, on their own isn't terribly exciting, but at least both of them were connected to the Trinity
storyline.

However the marriage last episode has ruined that theory. So now... not sure where they are going with that storyline. As for Deb, I've loved her since the beginning - sure she was foul-mouthed and a bit rocky around the edges but that is exactly what the character is supposed to be! |

I like Deb and I agree... her acting has gotten a lot better. Maybe MCH is helping her in more ways than one ;)
I also like LaGuerta its just the way tptb have nothing left to write for her so they pair her up with Bautista... which is kinda gross. I dont see any chemistry with these two. Plus I never got the point of their relationship. It just feels like filler. Same as her story last season where they had her romancing the married DA Miguel. I know he was her old friend but it just feels like they are writing her into the corner and I expected more since she was (supposedly) so close to Doaks. |

Terry O'Quinn get some plaudits for his role of Locke Didn't he win a supporting actor Emmy already? Also, the actors behind LaGuerta and Batista have worked together a long ass time. Since OZ, in fact. So I'm not entirely shocked that the vibe they give off is more platonic. |

I couldn't stand Deb/Jennifer Carpenter the first couple seasons, but she's been good this season.
La Guerta/Bautista just have zilch to add to anything. Boring characters, meh actors, just completely grinds the show to a halt any time they're on. Hoping they're trying to build up some investment in the characters to make us care when they kill one or both. Won't work, but at least someone will be dead. Their faceoff with the chief was so stupid/laughable, probably the apex of bad scenes involving those two. I will say that Bautista in cop mode is at least useful and watchable. Laguerta, not so much. |

Batista used to be a real cop, a nice guy in real life but he is a brutal actor. His best line ever was on Oz: "I'm no spick, I have class, I surf the
net"

John Lithgow should get Best Supporting Actor next year though. But Lost should get best Drama (this is of course reliant on them delivering a stellar final season with a satisfying conclusion). |
