Shambo has said that Survivor is absolutely done after S20.

Damn. I hope Shambo is actually as clueless about the future of the show as she was on the island.

How would Shambo know the inner workings of CBS?

If Survivor was done after 20, why would CBS and Erika Shay be telling people via the official website and Twitter to apply?
Plus, after the ratings this season is getting, I can't imagine CBS dropping it for any reason. |

The only way that Survivor is done after season 20 is if Mark Burnett decides to end it. There have been no teasers for that happening. Based on his blogs
for the current season, I'd say that Jeff Probst still is enthusiastic about hosting the show. He gave some thought to not returning after season 12 but
that was when he was in a serious relationship with Julie Berry. Haven't heard that he is currently involved with anyone currently.

We would of been told its ending after 20, but we'll be told about 20 at the Season 19 reunion in December. I cant imagin they would be ending it, if
people are applying for future seasons.
Its most likely going to last a little longer, I'd say when we get to season 24 or 25, then they may call it quits in 2012. |

I would bet my bottom dollar that we will stop seeing Survivor on TV when we are good and ready.
I can see a number of things happening before they get rid of this show. They have a solid fan base of 15 million viewers when you factor in DVR-ing and prime time viewers so if network TV picks up and ABC and NBC program hits on Thursday nights then I can see them moving Survivor to Sundays or Saturday nights....or any night/time slot that could benefit from 12-15 million solid viewers. After that I could see them moving the show around as is....taking Jeff and EPMB with it...to CMT or MTV or The CW, or any other Viacom owned station After THAT I could see them moving the show on a smaller scale...like making it a once a year type situation...and putting it on a "Discovery Channel" type channel And after THAT I could see them selling the rights and concept of the show to Bunim-Murray at MTV and morphing it with RW/RR challenge and using a younger hipper host, and a youngerish cast...no more 50+ people, more like ten 20 somethings and four 30 somethings and two-four 40 somethings. Survivor is what pretty much all other reality shows are based on; challenges between people, some are safe, one gets voted out/eliminated, then there is a winner....no one wants to see it leave.... |

Is survivor started reality TV, shouldn't it be fitting it should end it too?

Reality TV isn't going to end...it's a game show-soap opera hybrid, and neither genre's prone to extinction. If they have to end, they should have
3 more seasons after S20 and finish with S23: 22 contestants, winners only, 2 million+. Heroes vs. Villains just isn't the way to end such an iconic
series. It sounds like a season of The Inferno.

Fokkerdr1 wrote:Exactly. However this doesn't necessarily mean anything. They could just be asking for applications just so they have them. They would need to be prepared just in case the show doesn't get the can. It's much like filling out an application for a job. Places always accept applications, and them doing so does not mean they are hiring. Same concept here. |

^ that. Also, I remember them casting for Kid Nation 2, which we all know did not happen XD
I think Survivor will continue and I'll be heartbroken if it doesnt. But, if it should end at 20 and it is supposed to be Jeff's favorite and one of the best seasons ever, then I suppose that's a good way to go out, on top. |

Jeff keeps stating in his blog little tips for "future Survivor players." If Jeff didn't think the show was going to continue, I doubt he'd
be saying such things... But then again, Tocantins was going to be "the best season ever"...
