TAR15 makes the best season for 2009 with a best winners and the best final leg ever. ADC hate Meghan/Cheyne for being racists.

Point the fourth: 12 (TIE). The Amazing Race 15
(And yes, that means another season will *also* be ranked 12th, but will be written up after this one. The ordering of these write ups does not suggest anything other than TAR 15 is more readily on the mind.) (fun fact, the first two Google Image results are the cast pic of TAR 12 and the cast pic of TARA 1 :O) Before I begin, I'd like to comment on the picture arrangement, and how all the good teams are clustered together (in this case, in the back right corner), save for one poor outlier surrounded by people who suck (in this case, Zebra). Anyway, in an effort to continue pinching pennies, TAR 15 decided to do several...interesting things which will be discussed as they come about. The efforts showed. And while, in hindsight, TAR 15 might be raised in my rankings, for now, it's a LOW-MOR, to use PR terminology. Part of it is its route: I'll ignore that starting task for the moment to focus on sending twelve teams to Tokyo. And while Tokyo is one of the few cities I think could be repeated without becoming boring (Paris and Moscow, incidentally, are the others), this wasn't really how to do so (much like TAR 9's visit...and come to think of it, TAR 12's visit to Osaka. Hypothesis: TAR hates Japan due to World War II, so they continue to make shitty legs in it, just like Germany). Next, Vietnam! Specifically, the Mekong Delta, which housed my favorite episode of TAR *ever* (points if anyone other than ThaiSu or ADC knows). This couplet of episodes wasn't as good, but it did have adorable animals, water dragons, and decent enough RBs (I enjoyed the VCR ripping; even if it wasn't very difficult, I appreciate highlighting an often unseen part of South Asian culture - the recycling of electronics for scraps. From there, we went to Cambodia and...really didn't do a lot. I very much liked TAR going to Phnom Penh as it is a vastly different capital city than the majority of other SE Asian capitals. However, I don't feel it was utilized effectively - I think part of it had to deal with TAR 13's recent trip to Siem Reap in a slightly better leg, idk. Dubai was...well, they had two legs to do better than TAR 15, and they did. Super huge points for not only heading to the Middle East but also bypassing India. I liked the amount of diversity in the scenery (desert, Ski Dubai, the souk, the resorts) even if most places they visited were owned by the Atlantis Group. Groningen was beautiful, if lacking in the task department. Still waiting for a leg in Rotterdam. Or Kinderdijk. Sweden is win simply for going back to Scandinavia. That being said, the tasks seemed very rural, no? (as did the tasks in Groningen and the tasks in Estonia). European cities are <3, too. Estonia I've commented on; nice to use a new country, not as nice if I get undertones of that disasterous Finland leg in TAR 10. Prague didn't need two entire legs. TARA 2 did this best - one leg in the country, the next leg in the city (sure there was Intersection bullshit, but w/e). Even though half of the leg took place in night (a bold choice, which I approve), there really wasn't a lot of diversity in locations. And Vegas, upon second look, was well utilized, except for the fact that basically every non-new casino was used in some capacity. And sure, I assume that part of that is the trade off of advertising and fees for use. Not a whole lot to say on locations since most have been either repeats or retreads of prior locations. Up next, teams who, for the most part, have either been repeats or retreads of prior teams. |

I thought the destinations were.. OK. Sweden and Dubai were my faves I think. I only started watching TAR not so long ago, haven't seen all of the older
seasons yet, so I don't really have that much to compare against.
I had such high hopes for this season at the beginning, with two teams I didn't like getting eliminated in the first episode. Sadly it went downhill from there, with all of my favourite teams except Brian/Ericka getting eliminated one by one

Thank God for TAR15 being low on the list. I just hope TAR9 isn't also tied for 12th while TAR4 and 6 are still in the running.

I liked TAR15, it was a breath of fresh air after the disaster that was TAR14. It's not one of the best season but it's definitely not one of the
worst.

While I loved the ending of TAR15, it is definently one of the lower seasons. I wasn't emotionally invested in a team until like Leg 10 or 11. Plus a
generic course feeling like TAR14 backwards didn't help.

U/J were too far behind that they will not be able to catch up regardless, making the following leg predictable and boring. After I saw what happened, whenever they say 'pre-determined non elimination leg', I just roll my eyes. |

I assume that had U/J not been dumb at went on the Paris flight with everyone else, Oswald and Danny would be last/NEL'd. Granted, since they got the FF, it's a moot point however it does leave an interesting scenario open in that you would add another team to the airport dance in the beginning of leg 10. Someone else (probably not Dustin and Kandice) would take the shit flight with Eric and Danielle (meaning that one of Charla and Mirna, Eric and Danielle, or Uchenna and Joyce would've been eliminated: in short, I win <3). Then Oswald and Danny still melt down in Macau, leading to their elimination in Guam. So basically, either nothing changes or Uchenna and Joyce replace Eric and Danielle in the final 3. |

oh ehm gee wrote:TAR11 are better than TAR 7 and TAR14, but it doesn't mean those two seasons were the worst. Those seasons were average seasons. And how come TAR15 is better than TAR14..... there's no big characters in TAR15 unlike TAR14. At least in TAR14 everybody hated Luke! and the rivalry between Margie/Luke and Kisha/Jen was pretty entertaining than Sam/Dan boring bickering. And who could forget how slow Jen was... her meltdowns are way better than Ericka's angry moments. I think her "pee before pitstop" was jaw-dropping! I liked that scene better than Mika quiting. TAR11 is better than TAR3, because all teams have personality well except for John Vito/Jill who deserved to go out first in TAR11. Zach was kinda cute but he has no personality and Ken/Gerard were not really funny. The final 4 teams of TAR11 have personality, although I hated Danielle/Erik winning, it is still a great season. Dustin/Kandice <333 |
