My friend Bob is one of those few. He actually lives in the Phoenix area and roots for the Diamondbacks, Cardinals and
Suns.

Question to the phillies fan. I hear the phillies are thinking about throwing hamels into a deal to get halladay. Any truth to this?

phillies wont get halladay. theyll get someone like smoltz and extend cliff lee for 4-6 years. Lee will want 20M per year so the Phil$ will really have to open up their checkbook. lol sadllama wrote:glad you finally see things my way. StarRider's silence on this matter amuses me greatly. so these early reports about the Mets not spending money were erronious apparently. if they are serious about signing one of the top 3 fa's, the guy to sign is Lackey. |

you clearly know nothing about cliff lee. he doesnt give a shit about money. (okay maybe he cares a little since hes a baseball player, but compared to a guy
like cc, he doesnt give a shit about money.) i could see him taking a deal similar to burnetts. hes got one of the good agents as far as i know too so that
will help matters.

He is a recent CY award winner who's in the prime of his career and pitched lights out in the postseason.
5 yrs guaranteed at 17-18M per (minimum) for him to sign an extension. why would he give the Phillies a discount? he could easily sign w/ another contending team for that kind of money. |

because he likes pitching for the phillies, a team that has a chance to contend for the five years of his prime. and they have first dibs, considering theyre
the only team that can offer him an extension within the next year. theyve already started preliminary discussions. i think he also likes the NL, especially
cause he likes hitting.

Mets to offer deals to Molina and Bay today.

I think Lee will stay w/ Philly but don't hold your breath on him accepting a discount.
yeah DeBrun I heard that. according to Fatcesa, he thinks the Mets & Boston will sign Bay/Holliday - if the Mets sign Bay, the Sox will sign the other and vice versa. |

Mets hit a paltry 95 hr's last year so they desperately need some pop. Fatcesa is broadcasting from "blue heaven" so I guess this means the sports pope has ascended. |

Giant METS deal!
According to Nightegale, he was pursued by 15 teams at the Winter Meetings. He was 5-1 with a 2.07 ERA in 31 relief appearances between Double- and Triple-A last year, during which he struck out 42 batters in 39 innings. Everts was selected by Omar Minaya's Expos with the fifth overall pick in 2002. |

Update, 10:35 am: Buster Olney of ESPN says the Blue Jays asking price from the Phillies is about the same as it was this past July, which includes J.A. Happ, Kyle Drabek and Dominic Brown. …if that''s the case, i really wonder if the Phillies would be willing to pull the trigger on this deal, considering they balked at this demand from the Blue Jays this past summer… In addition, Olney says in order for the Yankees to acquire Halladay, they must structure a deal around either Joba Chamberlain or Phil Hughes. |
