Remove this ad Russell - CPN5 Shambo - MOR3 (How was she over the top in this episode? Did she do anything whacky?) Dave - MOR2 Brett - MORP3 (Maybe 2. He had screentime tonight but they didn't make a big deal out of it. His immunity win was basically ignored just like Mick's was). Natalie - UTR1 () Jaison - CP4 (Winner chances rising!) Mick - CP3 (Maybe MOR, this was finally a good episode for him but he's so boring). Monica - CPM4 (Maybe OTTM, she went down swingin. She made all valid points, but she was being snarky about it and the casual viewer may not perceive that as P like we all would) Winner picks: Oh God... I dunno... Any of the 4 Foas. I hate this season.

I think that the way he approached Monica/Brett was N at first, then I thought it was P, and I couldn't really decide. The whole "Russell is a millionaire" debacle also seemed to be something that was dangled for the audience to dis/approve of, without giving a solid footing as to whether we should appreciate his move or think he is a traitor. I was a bit skeeved out by his tone and think that M fits best, because we were not given clear editorial intent, as far as I could tell. Mick - CP3 He was very nearly a P here, but not quite. Something about this man just seems off, though - the way he appeared in this episode was always so sullen, and his eyes always looked watery. I dunno what's up with that. [/end rabbit trail] This episode seemed like a pretty classic late-game winner episode, with an infusion of doubt as to whether he can make it and an emphasis on why he deserves to make it. Monica - CPN4 The CP was clear-cut for me - she had a ton of strategy and got plenty of personal insight into it. I personally loved Monica this episode, but I think that her confessional right after the second IC solidifies what the editors were presenting to the audience - Monica was upset that Brett (the P character of the episode) won IC because now she's gone. I thought her scrambling was epic and I love that she may the girl who prevented Russell from a million, but all in all it really was N. 'Tis a pity. Natalie - UTR1 She had enough sentences and SPV to be UTR. I love that her fight with Russell was played up in the preview and then it was only like two actual sentences. Russell - CPN5 Eh, I think it fits better than OTT. Shambo - MOR2 I'm leaving her at 2 because she practically disappeared after the Dave boot. I thought her comments about/toward Dave were N more than OTT, and other than those comments I have no idea where the OTT is coming from. I actually considered UTR. At this point in time, I think it's been decided that it is one of the Foa Foa's. Russell's visibility is beyond ludicrous, Natalie has the same problem (but on the other end). I think Mick and Jaison both fit the profile of past winners the best, so I think it's between the two of them. I think Jaison is being pegged more as the underdog winner, which usually means he won't win, while Mick is riding in the shadows to emerge as the surprise feel-good winner. yawn I'm going to attempt to go back and rewatch the premiere this week, which has helped determine a lot. I almost see Jaison/Mick as JT/Stephen, where the first episode really was able to best determine that JT would win. Remember, Jaison's premiere episode had the opening scene, one tiny scene at camp, and then completely INV during the scrambling and at TC. Could he win off of it? We shall see...

But I also think that "setting someone up for a fall" is different than putting edgic-style doubt on him. To me, edgic doubt is akin to what they gave Tom in the eps before he won so convincingly. To me, the entirety of RH's edit is leading up to his fall. And the fact that he was so agitated in this episode is not so much doubt, but instead his own psyche beginning to unravel. And the concept of this being a bad season edit-wise is something a lot of us believe. RH gave them editing gold from the get-go so much so that a huge chunk of the players were not simply edgically eliminated but virtually unknown for many episodes. These people are selected because they're Type-A extroverts for the most part, and admittedly every now and then you get someone who crawls into a shell when they play the game, but I find it ludicrous to think that there were only 3 or 4 interesting people out there. If that's the case, their selection process failed miserably. They have 24/7 records of what they all do, and to think the sole interesting story arc was RH's (and in 2nd place, Shambo) is silly. This was the RH show - not because Jaison or Natalie or Dave are unlikeable or uninteresting, but because of a conscious editing decision to make this OTTN person the sole star of the season. And sorry, but if his final rating is anything but that we're missing something. He has no complexity - despite some good strategic moves - at all. His edit portrays him as a deliberately annoying, cruel person who revels in insulting his fellow players Every Frigging Episode. We aren't supposed to like OTTN. They succeeded. Yep. And if he ends up adding his own success to that success, Edgic's failure will be all the more palpable.

Posts: 9945 (12/11/09 01:20 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Probst claims that Monica wasn't heavy enough to get the bag into the basket, but if you watch the episode, she comes close a few times. If you know how the challenge works, it's not all about weight. You have to consider the position of the fulcrum and the downwards force you're applying in addition to gravity (which is where weight becomes a factor.) And in the immunity challenge 3 days earlier (in the last episode), they were arranged by their size, and the reason Natalie lasted so long in that was because she was lighter than everyone else. The Ponderosa videos mean nothing because they measure Monica's weight, but not Natalie's. I'm guessing they're within a few pounds of each other, but Monica had been eating much better than Natalie throughout the game.

You can't say Shambo deserved a N for cackling over her biggest enemy who treated her like dog shit all season long but Monica doesn't deserve an N for acting arrogant, smug, and being a raging bitch around camp and at TC. Natalie is definitely UTR1 with no tone. No negative SPV from anyone and Jeff was commenting on everyone being behind Mick/Brett in the IC. Monica got the worst as being pointed out as the only one to not get a bag in. The comments about Natalie last night were nothing like the positive SPV Jeff gave Ashley and Natalie in the past for impressive performances in the challenges.

"Jaison, Monica, Natalie still no luck with their first bags!" Jeff really didn't give her that much positive SPV. He commented more on her suckiness this week than her strength last week.
