You know that's kind of stupid, right? They are still spending your money on mailings and newsletters.

My husband is on the Board of the local Habitat group. When he started I told him about the overwhelming amount of mailings we got from donating. He looked into it and it turns out there is a covenant in the charter that states each group has to send out a certain number of mailings each year in order to get their $$$ from national. If they choose to decrease mailings, national takes over and basically blankets that area with mass mailings and decreases the local office monies. Even with him sitting on the Board, it took over one year to get us off the mailing list and in that time we got at least a weekly letter request begging for more money.

I now just donate directly to the local office with materials only.
