It seems to me that a lot of the political problems we have arise because both parties are driven by ideology instead of pragmatism. The health care debate is
a good example. The Left says, "OMG, health care is too expensive! The government must take over the health insurance industry because we will make it
more efficient!" Ummmm, no. The government has never made anything more efficient. And the Right responds with, "OMG, health insurance companies are
so awesome! We must have an unregulated market because unregulated markets are the most efficient!" Ummmm, no. They're not. And insurance companies
are jackasses.
And in the meantime, the rest of us have to sit back and watch the show, knowing that nothing to address the real problems in the system will ever be addressed. And no matter who "wins" the debate, nothing good will come out of it for the American citizens.
