Whenever I see those first few eps of S1, I'm always pleasantly surprised how awesome Doyle is. He meshes so well with Cordy, has a great buddy-buddy
relationship with Angel (more believable than with Wes imo) and is genuinely funny and a good guy.
Was he let go? Why? Was it cause of his rumored drug problems or did that come after he got fired? At times, I preferred him to Wes |

They say it was pre-planned, but the drug issues suggest otherwise.

I suspect that in the long run, they would have brought Wes or someone like him on anyway, because when I first watched the show, it seemed that they needed a
researcher type character. Doyle and Angel's knowledge was limited, and the cast was just too small. I think they saw the writing on the wall with Glenn
Quinn's drug problem and cut their losses. I loved Doyle, but I loved how Wesley developed. He became the most changing and unpredictable character on the
show.

I just finished the 100th episode of Angel ("You're Welcome"). Season 5 has a lot of funny, nice, dramatic, good episodes. I never really
followed Angel unfortunately but after re-watching all of Buffy last year, I thought I'd give Angel a go. I started with Season 1 then skipped to Season 5
just because I love Amy Acker. Will go through the rest soon after I finish all of this.

Watching S2, I really wish they had kept Kate on. She literally...disapeared after almost od'ing. I take it she moved away? I like how she was tough, was a strong adversary and didn't just accept all the weird stuff like everyother character seems too. Did the actress leave the show for Law & Order? |

Elisabeth (Kate) Rohm was a recurring character
on Angel and, if I remember it right, a regular on TNT's drama Bull. She replaced Angie Harmon on Law & Order after that. |

So, does this tedious Darla crap last for all of season 2? Or at least change a bit? The more Angel broods, the less I can stand DB's acting.

Yep. On How I Met Your Mother, there was a whole arc with Ally being hidden behind large handbags and pillows. She's since totally lost the baby weight and is back to being a thinking man's mega-babe.
I decided to rewatch the final season starting from the puppet ep and was suprised to see it's letterbox/widescreen, maybe even HDTV. I recall both Angel and Buffy airing in old 4:3 NTSC. Is my recollection wrong, or are the DVD's upgraded from the original format? BTW -- I'm loving rewatching. I kind of discounted the end at the time as Whedon having run out of gas and deciding to kill off Fred, but I see now that there was much more involved. |
