Remove this ad There is a ton of "reports" now that Rudy Reyes might play Alcide. I had posted him when we were first speculating. Alcide is described as huge with green eyes and pitch black hair...let me repost a pic of Rudy. It might be him, might be that other guy from earlier, who knows?? Plus he already knows Alex from them doing GenKill together. I'd love them to pick him. He's simply gorgeous.

Although Alan Ball confirmed to me over the summer that werewolf Alcide would take a big bite out of the drama's upcoming third season, the search for an actor to play the pivotal part formally got underway today with the release of the following casting notice: ALCIDE: Good-looking, rough-around-the-edges, articulate, heroic, and decent, but not what he seems. He gets along well with Sookie. There's even an attraction between the two. Very strong recurring. True Blood is also searching for a fortysomething African-American actor to play HOLLIS, a bouncer in a bar. Despite his scary appearance - he resembles an NFL lineman - he's a nice guy who knows Alcide well. He's suspicious of Sookie and delivers some unexpected bad news to Alcide about his fiancée, Debbie Pelt.

He played himself in Operation Kill and it was a very, very small part and nothing that required him to really act or emote at all. So, I am not sure he would actually be in serious contention for a role like this, due to his lack of acting cred.

Tudors star James Frain has just been cast in the heavily recurring role of Franklin Mott, Spoiler [+] Tara's over-protective vampire squeeze, sources confirm to me exclusively. The English actor, whose TV credits include recurring roles on Invasion (as Eli) and 24 (as Paul Raines), will debut in the second episode of the show's upcoming third season. Spoiler [+] The casting breakdown for the role describes Franklin as a tall, dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an "immediate and torrid" connection to Tara. In the books, Franklin is essentially Tara's sugar daddy, but I'm guessing Alan Ball is taking the character in a different direction.
