And just imagine how festive the finale would be at this time of year ^_^

It'll be another Africa/Guatemala with people sitting around together all day doing nothing because there is nothing else to do.

Hypothermia is a real problem if you're in the Arctic and not in a climate-controlled base or something like that. The contestants would need to be in massive heat-insulating coats if they are to survive outdoors and that sort of gear is hardly conducive to any challenges, apart from husky racing or something like that. Unless matty p wants all the challenges to be held in a hot spring too. Either way, he needs to stop hitting the New Topic button. |

Seriously! It'd be like watching The Alaska Experiment with 18 people who don't know hot to survive in the cold and would therefore die of hypothermia.

And if that mistake gets people killed? Do the rewards far outweigh the risks then? Hypothermia is a real problem if you're in the Arctic and not in a climate-controlled base or something like thatLOL at thinking they'd ever even let it get remotely close to letting someone die. Iceland/Greenland/Norway aren't THAT cold in the summer which is when this would be filming. And the risk of someone dying of hypothermia is no higher than the risk of someone dying of heat stroke in any other season. Wasn't it like 120 degrees or someshit every day in Tocantins? The production would obviously have to make accomodations, such as providing a staple food and warmer clothing, but they've made accomodations in the past. |

100+ farenheit is still something you could live with due to the fact that they have a lake which they can cool off in. I've lived in conditions similar to
Brazil's climate, its livable even without appropriate rations for food and water and shelter, proof, well most of the people that live at the place
I'm pointing out duke it out with the rations and conditions even worse than the Survivor castaways. The castaways will never be able to adapt that fast
within a cold location, they'll lose a finger before they do.

Haven't we already discussed this like 6 months ago???? In a thread somewhere.
I've already given several obstacles why there won't be any cold season in Survivor. 1. It's going to be barren, nothing to see beside ice everywhere. While it's beautiful, It will get boring after 1 episode. 2. As several people said, even there's hot spring there, I doubt people would start shredding their clothes off 24 hours like in normal season (hence no bikini and shirtless men) 3. Nothing to built a shelter with unless production wants to teach them how to build an igloo or provide woods. They will have to live in a tent. 4. Production wise, it would be hard for the camera. There's always going to be mist on the lens which is bad for the camera. Plus if it's cold enough it would clog the machine inside. Trust me, I'm a film student and they always told us NEVER film anything in cold weather. Basically you have to get additional tool to keep the camera covered and warm. 5. Frostbite 6. What happened if there's sudden snowstorm? coz it sometimes happened unpredictably in the cold climate even in the summer. In the tropic it would be fine there's a storm coz it won't harm the survivor, but snowstorm? they could die. 7. Food. How r they going to get the food? fish? I doubt there's any fish in the "hot spring" that you suggested. Coconut? From what tree? Well, they can eat ice cone everyday I suppose. 8. Reward. What's the reward going to be? You can get an electric heater? You can go to.....another cold place? You can get blanket? You can get ice cream maker? What? |

Seriously, New Zealand is probably the coldest you can get while filming Survivor and even then, that isn't that cold. |

Umm, he's saying that a cold season doesn't have to be on a tundra.

I think a colder season in a cooler climate is possible. But I seriously doubt they would film a season anywhere there is constant snow and ice, for the
reasons hagiz stated.

hagiz1 wrote: 1. Not all of it will be snowy. Beautiful mountains, exotic hot springs etc. 2. They'd want to be in the hot springs as much as possible, and considering every 3 days is condensed into 1 hour for TV, I'm sure they could manage to get enough bikini shots. 3. The shelter would be provided by production, as in Gabon and Africa. No problems with that. 4. So nothing has ever been filmed in the snow has it? 5. Medical team constantly there to help contestants. 6. They would do it at a time of year where snowstorms are unlikely to happen. There is a risk of natural disaster in every season. 7. I'm not sure if you can do it in Iceland, but you get the fish from under the ice. Anyway, the production can provide most of the food, like it does in most inland seasons. 8. Rewards - Food, warmth etc, just like most seasons. |

gibson97 wrote: This thread is about Iceland and Greenland, which are mostly tundra. Any land in either country that is relatively warm is almost certainly already being used for housing or farmland. On Wikipedia (duious source I know, but nobody else has supplied any statistics), the capital of Greenland, Nuuk has an average high of 50 degrees and low of 38 in July, the warmest month. Bear in mind this is probably the warmest part of Greenland. I'm sure most of the people in Nuuk have central heating, modern appliances and many layers of clothes to shield them from the cold. Survivor contestants won't have all that (unless you permit them to wear many layers) and the temperature is probably colder in any location outside Nuuk. I don't think they can play Survivor there without providing lots of assistance (igloo, hot water bottle, fire-starting kit etc). |
