I like competition reality shows. I watch them all except the celeb ones. I don't give a shit about Heidi and Spencer and Sanjaya in a jungle.

Not really sure why I continue to watch.
I guess b/c 1... it's something to watch on Thursdays, and 2... I'm hoping for some exciting drama. I don't think I've ever been in to a season like this one. It's all b/c of Russell though. I usually despise the jerk and can't wait for them to be voted out, but his manipulation and the exciting tribals have been fun to watch. |

I've watched almost every season (missed some of Borneo, half of China, all of Micronesia, and most of Tocatins) and I'm still here. I love the
strategy, the concept, and the suspense - this season is great and I can't wait to find out how it ends.

I keep watching, because it's fun for me. I like the strategic and social aspects of the game and how there's an endless amount of ways you can play it
and win it.

I like how the strategy of the show never follows the same pattern from one season to the next. After the women dominated Fans Vs. Faves, I was afraid that
would happen every season now, but it hasn't.

I am fascinated by the human condition. It is interesting to see which people check their morality at the Survivor door and which of those will do anything
and everything all in the name of "playing the game".
And now that I stumbled upon this site, I can think of no good reason to stop watching. You Sucksters are *almost* as fascinating as the castaways. |

Survivor is the only show I ever watch on television. I loved the formula of systematic elimination and the colorful buffs. I've often thought of
abandoning the show. A lot of seasons I just wish it were over already so I can go back to my normal life of not being chained to my tv. But then a season like
China comes along. Or a season where a tribe goes into a merge without the numbers and somehow manages to make all their members last to the end. Or even
finding out someone you work with is on the show. It's really moments like that that make it worthwhile for me. Every time I think of stopping, I think
"What if something totally amazing and hilarious happens and I miss it?" That's why I ended up watching Gabon, and it paid off with Crystal's
priceless voting confessional at Randy's boot.

Well this season I've started to miss episodes. But I guess I still watch because I can't find a better show at 8:00 on Thursday nights.

After all these seasons, you'd expect the show to get a bit stale. This is the reason why bad castaways/episodes/seasons don't faze me. There is
something entertaining in every season, some you just have to look harder for. Watching this season because I know a castaway personally and that makes me feel
sort of invested in how that player does. I truly wish that Mark Burnett would get back to basics and find the demographic that displays the lowest ratings for
his show and cast from there. Don't take applications, don't recruit, just find people who have never seen the show and cast from that group. I realize
how wishful that thinking is, but one can always hope. I would love to watch Palau all over again with a different group of people and see the dynamic. Not
much else you can change, really... Location will always be remote and jungly/ruiny/deserty/tropically, so throw a dart at a map...who cares. I'll keep
watching until something like that, or similar occurs, then I can easily tune out. Unless, of course, my next door neighbor gets cast on Survivor:Amazon Asian

Gambling. Ever since the 3rd season, I've been putting together a $50-per-player pool with some co-workers, friends and bar buddies. I think that's why
I have remained such a fan. Any game on tv is more interesting and fun to watch if you have a stake in it personally.

Cos it's still fun.
They still manage to come up with some entertaining nutcases for the show. And even the crap seasons have something good about them. I could rattle off great moments and characters in Thailand, Fiji, Cook Islands and even Samoa. And the endless anal internet obsession with the fine details of the shows... making a bunch of dirty starving fools bitching about each other somehow seem epic and important... makes it a great timewaster when I should be working. |
