So the guy who claims to not be able to love does in fact feel something. Will the guy who doesn't think he's capable of remorse go insane with guilt now that he knows that wasting time with Trinity led to Rita's death and Harrison's destiny to follow his father's footsteps? He fucked up in so many ways - leading the cops away from Arthur countless times so he could be the one to finish him - wasting time plotting to get Arthur by tampering with the Mustang while Arthur was probably killing Rita. Not sure if it will be easy to watch this. Especially if the writers fuck it up.

I think the hand off of everything to the FBI will keep any of these details from coming out in the open. They know who Trinity is now, so there is no need to search for more clues. They may chalk up Rita's murder to Trinity taking revenge out on one of the Miami Metro peeps before he took off. Arthur's daughter killed Lundy & shot Deb, so they may think that Trinity put her up to it to help cover up his crime. Deb is Dexter's sister, so they could think that Trinity wanted revenge for his daughter being caught and committing suicide and saw an opportunity with Rita. Tons of theories all related to the investigation and revenge would keep the FBI from looking into it further. As far as they are concerned, they have a murder to hunt down and the case is solved. So, I don't see the FBI or anyone else looking into anything further, HOWEVER, I do see Deb getting suspicious. Deb is like a pit bull and once she bites onto something, she won't let go. So, the only one I could see sniffing around things is Deb and possibly Quinn, since he has it out for Dexter. But Quinn is an idiot, so I don't see him figuring anything out or looking too deep.

They would push hard to find him- which would include questioning the family and construction site workers. Maybe they could have Dexter get the money to the family secretly with some note that they no longer have to worry about Trinity - they might remain quiet out of loyalty? LOL at Angel having seen Trinity. Lithgow is pretty recognizable. Angel/Dexter conspiracy subplot? I think Rita's kids will say with their father's parents. There's no reason they would take Dexter's son (not related). I think we will see Dexter alone with his son next season. I forget- did we ever have solid proof about Dexter's parentage? Is it possible that Harry is Dexter's real dad? I'm guessing his brother isn't- given that would make his thing with Deb incest. What if Harry was Dexter's dad and was himself a serial killer- and "the code" was his code?

Trinity killed Rita - and since they don't know he is dead they have to assume he is hiding out somewhere in Miami trying to complete his kill cycle. They will investigate this to the best of their ability. I have a really hard time believing that with all of the mistakes Dexter has made this season that it won't start coming back to bite him in the ass. As others have also mentioned.. he filed a report claiming he hit Arthur's van. He was actively seen at the 4 walls build, at Arthur's home, at the other build where Arthur tried to kill himself. There are so many people who could tie Dexter to Trinity - and he won't be able to reasonably alter the murder scene so they don't know it was Trinity. It's not like Arthur's kids are going to see Jesus, they are grown adults who could easily recognize Dexter and not only that - will probably tell the police that Kyle was there just before Swat came busting in. Post Rita - Dexter won't be thinking clearly. It's even possible he might slip and say something to Deb that he shouldn't have. Oh, and there is the pesky problem of an ALIBI for the hours and hours spent killing Trinity while poor little Harrison was sitting at home in mommy's blood.

Driscoll was murdered by Brian (Ice Truck Killer) back in season one. At least that is what they made us believe.

If he can keep it quiet that he was Kyle Butler then it would be pretty easy to say that Trinity was stalking a member of the Miami PD with kids and that led him to killing Rita. There is no reason for Trinity to have known Dexter if anyone remembers seeing them talk

Just seemed like a lot of loose ends around "detectives". This season is over - Trinity and Rita are dead - I'm sure the story will just move on.

However, if there is one constant in Dexter it is the theme of cause and effect. There is bound to be a rebound to all of Dexter's mistakes.

But since it is now the FBI who will be following up, Dexter is in the clear. They may question the family and the family will say the name of Kyle Butler and the FBI will try to locate Kyle Butler and discover that Kyle Butler was killed and the suspect was Trinity. Lead dead and Dexter is in the clear. The family will be questioned by the FBI who is now handling the case and NOT Miami Metro, so there is no danger of Dexter being seen by the family when they are brought in for questioning or if there is anymore followup investigation done at their home. It's with the FBI now. So, Dexter has nothing to worry about on that end since his alias is dead.

Angel will think that Trinity was checking things out for himself to see if the investigation was any closer to finding out his identity.

Of course tptb will not do this. They will just move on to the next season of issues. I imagine any issues left over will be handled "off screen".

Dexter wasn't at the 4 Walls Build and Arthur's home KYLE BUTLER was. All of these little details will fall through the cracks, because Miami Metro does not have this case anymore, the FBI has it. They are never going to discover that Dexter asked a co-worker to look up a license plate that just happened to be Trinity's. Arthur's family will likely never see Dexter/Kyle again, because with the FBI handling the case, Dexter will not have any reason to be around for forensics or anything else. The writers closed everything up with having the FBI come in and take over and take all the evidence files that Miami Metro had been compiling. But like I said, I do think Deb is going to continue sniffing around, so I could see next season have something to do with Deb asking Dexter many, many questions. And I think Dexter will easily be able to talk his way out of it, because Deb looks up to Dexter and he is her only family, yada, yada, yada.
