Of course, I'd love for Coraline to take it but people have worked themselves into a frenzy over Up. Saw Precious and damn, what a tough film to watch at times. So many powerful performances that seem to come completely out of nowhere, particularly Mo'Nique and Mariah Carey. My biggest complaint was Precious' mumblespeak being somewhat difficult to decipher, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again to have another crack at interpreting.

She said nothing - but her face told everything. What a talent. Haven't seen Nine yet - but don't know of an American actress that has her depth.

She's been the best in show for two ensemble American movies now. Those pretentious slugs at Awards Daily are getting to me already. I wish there were other sites dedicated to the Oscars with such a big following, only with less disgusting people. I find it hilarious how the critics awards are trashed for such "uninspired" choices. I guess people appreciate shock value over what is truly deserving? I'm glad The Hurt Locker is owning so far. Streep, though, does not deserve shit for one of the worst performances of her film career. It's a shame the charming and flawless Mulligoddess is being snubbed just because Streep is a veteran. I think the BFCA noms are interesting, clearly Nine is not "out" and neither is Ronan. Although the BFCA gets shit for "predicting the Oscars" (actually only angry fanboys of shitty indie movies like Julia say that), they usually get around 4 Best Actress nominations right.

He's a good director and producer - I don't mind him being rewarded for that. But in terms of acting, Clooney mostly only plays one role and that's Clooney. I've seen Up in the Air and didn't see anything remarkable in his work in particular.

Clooney is also a Hollywood 'special love' and those people get a lot of leverage come awards time. I prefer him directing although he's not hard on the eyes :)

That kid drove me nuts every time he came on screen. Their noms are kinda obvious, not really a single surprise. Hard to say if some are deserving or not sight unseen. There isn't anything glaringly missing or present so good for them I suppose. I think the Globes will orgasm over Nine as well before it really goes "out" of the race. It's currently sitting at 36% on Rottentomatoes so unless all the meanies submitted their reviews early I can't imagine it making it to Best Pic at the Oscars. If it does it shows how bad an idea having 10 nominees is.
