Not necessarily, Survivor is and always has been both a strategic and social game. The merge portion of the game has always been the most important because
you have to start voting people out and putting them on the jury in a way where they still want to vote for you in the end.
If you walk around puffing your chest out, acting arrogant or laughing at people's face, you can't go into the FTC thinking people are going to respect you after you laugh in their faces the entire time. Sometimes you need to keep your mouth shut and just stroke people's egos. I'm not pointing out just Russell, this has happened multiple times in the past during Survivor. Rob M, one of my favorites Survivor ever is another good example. Of course I was pissed off he didn't win at the end, but he made some reckless decisions in the game socially and paid for it in the end. If you can't convince the jury to vote for you at the end of the game than you didn't deserve to win. The jury vote is a significant part of the game. |

Here's the deal, though. Rob should've won ASS, given the choice between him and Ambuh. Shit, I even like both of them quite a bit, but Rob still
deserved the win.
In Palau, Tom did a lot of aggressive gameplay towards the end. If he was facing the ASS jury, Katie would've won. Seriously, fucking Katie. Bitter juries are always shit. |

God fucking dammit, Rob did NOT deserve to win ASS because he is the one that made the jury so bitter! There's a better case for Susie deserving the win
than Boston Rob. His gameplay was good, but his social game SUCKED. It sucked so bad that he LOST. To AMBER!

I think it's great if jurors reward gameplay. It's more satisfying as a viewer.
At the same time, all contestants know they have to face a jury. Bare minimum you have to contain your assholery enough so that the jury wouldn't rather eat glass than reward you with the win. I don't know, it depends. If it comes off as "you beat me so I will never vote for you to win", then yeah, that's unappealing. But if it's more "you were a fucking dickbag the entire time you were out there and I hate you personally" then I think that's understandable. |

This thread is fucking stupid. It's possible to play a good, aggressive strategic game AND have a good social game. Parvati, Yul, Tina, Aras, JT. Nobody
gives a shit about how many HII's you find or how many "big moves" you make if you continually treat them like useless losers the entire time,
cos the jurors aren't going to want to award that person with their vote for a million dollars. Makes sense to me.
