I know the person who keeps bringing it up probably doesn't care, but I can relate to Duncan's issues with his orientation.
A lot of people for various reasons throw around the "people are gay because they were abused." idea so casually and repeatedly, and those of us who are gay/bi and weren't abused know this is bullshit. But to someone who was abused and happens to be gay/bi I can totally see how growing up constantly hearing this as if it were unequivocal truth could really fuck with them, especially since this "theory" paints the victims as abusers in waiting. It's an extra set a issues that heteros who were abused don't have to deal with, and I think that's where he was coming from. Other than that though, he is unnecessarily catty bitch. |
