He's a good director and producer - I don't mind him being rewarded for that. But in terms of acting, Clooney mostly only plays one role and that's Clooney. I've seen Up in the Air and didn't see anything remarkable in his work in particular. The only thing I've ever really liked Clooney in are the Ocean's movies, and that was due more to the ensemble as a whole. He just doesn't do much for me. Never has.

My favourite performance of him was probably Michael Clayton, but that year was so packed in every single category that he struggles to even make a top 10 for lead actor in my opinion.

Posts: 3967 (12/14/09 11:26 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I've gone back & forth on Clooney for awhile but he completely won me over via Up in the Air & Fantastic Mr. Fox this year. The character he plays in Up in the Air is not against type at all, but it is finally a fleshed-out, three-dimensional character unlike say that dullard Michael Clayton or Bobby Ocean or whomever. He was also the best thing about the steaming pile of a movie that was The Men Who Stare at Goats. And it's a shame they gave him an acting Oscar for the meh-fest that was Syriana (which he got for Good Night & Good Luck anyway), cause otherwise he would be a sho0-in to win this year.

I really liked her performance as Julia Child. Her impersonation was pretty spot on and she was quite funny. I don't think it was horrible at all. It was sort of like a caricature though

She's a master of acting and that's my opinion. Being pissed off that she has 2 nominations is ridiculous. If you put in two good performances (in any film) than so be it. I also could have seen Stanley Tucci nominated twice for supporting actor. Just 'do the right thing' based on performances not on 'how many x's' or who the Hollywood peeps like (ie: George Clooney) or the political crap that goes on and on (like Celine Di-on)
