So the producers must have an idea of what they are going to show for a season even before the filming has completed.

Posts: 3002 (12/16/09 09:58 AM) Registered User More Recent Posts	I always figured the producers have somewhat of an idea what is going to be shown even while they are actively filming. Think about Jeff reading the votes at every tribal council. The first votes Jeff always reads are the ones that we were shown as they were being cast, so even then they have to know who's votes "matter" to the story so that Jeff can arrange them in the proper order to be read.

However, my understanding is that after Tribal Council, Jeff reads EVERY vote that is cast. That way, the editors have more flexibility with how they piece together the drama of the votes. If there's a big storyline involving Mick's vote, they want to make sure that Mick's vote is read on camera - even if it wasn't read IRL. Also - yes the editors definitely have an idea of what they want to include. But of course that's the case. 98% of what they hear from us is talking about how hungry we are. They get a pretty good sense of what the important conversations are.

We probably should have guessed that, I suppose, since the two (or three) votes they show being cast always seem to be the first ones Probst pulls out during the reveal. I always thought that was clever, since as a viewer, you already knew about those 2(+). Do they also re-shoot him doing the "Nth person voted of Survivor" bit with each person's vote who voted for the bootee? On a close vote, that deciding vote might merit extra editing-derived drama.

Interesting you say this, because a few weeks ago, I was asking myself why I find it so hard to care much about the last couple of seasons vs. how invested I was in the outcomes of the earlier seasons. Russ has definitely been the entertainer of the season (much like Coach was) and Shambo was a close second. Beyond that the producers have either left out any player development or Russ / Shambo was as good as it got. Mick or Nat, I don't really care who wins although the irony would be at the reunion show if Nat wins and JP plays the dumb blond comments. LOL That would be funny. Nat has also been shown a number of times talking, stratigizing with Russ. I can't see where Mick's image as "poor tribal leader" and lack of showing him stratigizing with Russ could be rehabilitated at this point to give him the win. I have been wrong before but I'm seeing a Nat win.
