on the Adam spectrum, I like FYE better than Whadaya Want From Me, so I don't like that they are just pushing FYE away for the new song...

I always had a sinking feeling that Kris's album would flop. I love the two frontrunners for his next single though, so that could turn this era around for
him!!!

I'm not counting Kris out just yet...
Maybe it's just the inner fantard in me - but I have hopes for this album! |

Don't count Kris out yet. His single is showing signs of becoming a real hit. That will help album sales.

it's gonna be really interesting to see how cook's and archuleta's 2nd albums do. if multi-platinum sellers like daughtry and kelly (whose singles
this era have done significantly better than my december) will struggle to get to platinum (carrie might do 1.5X or 2X platinum at best, jordin will probably
barely scratch 150K), there will be a drop-off for those two.
and since the S8 idol sales have been shiteous all around, they'll be more irrelevant by the time they drop their 2nd albums (if they even do) |

I'm interested to see how Cook's 2nd album will do too. I think its going to be a lot better than the first one as Cook will play a lot bigger role in
songwriting. I think RCA did a poor job of choosing of singles for him this time around so for him to sell approx 1.5 mil without a push from the better songs
on the album being released was impressive to me. His tour did really well too so his fanbase is still around and hasn't moved on to another flavour of the
week. I know I'm anticipating his 2nd release and another tour after seeing him live recently and I'm hoping lots of other fans are too.

Whatever happens with their second album we know it won't sell shit compared to their first. Is Kelly still only the major idol recording artist to have a
higher selling second album?

Well she definitely has time on her side in this case, and of course I won't discount talent and good music. Ruben and Fantasia may have been able to do
the same if anyone actually cared for their music.

Both David's probably won't sell further than Gold (500,000). Cook disappointed a lot of general fans with his debut and Archie is just going to
follow the trend of selling lower than the debut. Both have loyal enough fanbases to sell 500,000 but I don't see either going past that.
The only Idols to bring in some decent sales and worldwide is still Carrie and Kelly. If it wasn't for those two, American Idol would be considered a bigger joke than it's becoming. Bring on X Factor US. |

I would be thrilled to see both David's go platinum with their second albums but I don't see it happening. |

suckshardcore wrote: well it's not impossible for artists to sell more with their sophmore album than their debut. I believe taylor swift has done that with Fearless. If Cook or Archie puts out music that reaches beyond the fans they currently have they could potentially see an uptick in sales. That is what happened with kelly. She expanded her fanbase far beyond what she had with her debut by putting out music that reached across genres IMO. Any artist would kill to have one album like that in a career, expecting two or more is unrealistic IMO. Carrie got hers' on her debut and Kelly got hers' on her sophmore.. same premise and both are extraordinarily blessed to have achieved that kind of success regardless of what their future holds saleswise. |

Hence why I said talent and good music, I agree with you. By time I simply meant that that type of a thing is more of a rarity now than it was a few years ago.
The shitty music industry we all complain about so frequently, lol.
