The editors hit it over our heads that they were praying to win. They didn't.

Ratings for episode 13:

BRETT - OTTP3
JAISON - MORP3
MICK - UTR2
NATALIE - CPP3
RUSSELL H. - CPN5
SHAMBO - OTT3

Analyzing the candidates:

1. JAISON: It's become the season of the least faults, and Jaison currently has the least outrageous edit by Edgic standards. Good Episode 1. Great merge. Good tone. A few CP's. Relevant to the storyline. Strategy. End game connections. This episode he was given credit for Sham's boot as well.

[Huge gap]

2. RUSSELL H.: The biggest detriment to Russell is his high visibility. But if he's the winner, would they edit him any differently? They want to milk his outrageous gameplay. He's had plenty of doubt, from making it to the end-game to how he's going to actually get enough votes to win. He has enough jury connections, we'll see if they are positive or negative.

3. NATALIE: Her edit is very unconventional by edgic standards. However, looking at her ratings, when she gets focus, she definitely gets some good meat to her edit. Huge blow to edgic if she wins. The thing that keeps getting me is that we've seen her edit time and time again: Susie, Cassandra, Becky, etc. None of them have won. However, none of them have gotten as much credit as she's been given either.

4. MICK: He follows very few edgic guidelines, to be honest. He had a good episode 1. He's been visible the entire season, but he's barely had a pulse. He's been ignored in long stretches. Unconventional for a male winner. He had a terrible merge episode. Almost no tone. Extremely MOR, with a UTR streak post merge that is unprecedented for a winner. Most winner's stories pick up post merge, and Mick has fell flat almost every time. The thing that is even keeping him on the radar (barely) is the recap episode, which was pretty good. But I doubt he wins.

5. BRETT: Galu can hope, right? Actually, he should be happy he made it this far. I could have sworn the edit let us to Monica being the last Galu, but I guess I was wrong on that one. GJ Brett!

Interesting find:

The last time a winner got 0 confessionals in a post-merge episode was Vecepia and Ethan, who both received it on the merge episode (unless we could Bob's during the fake merge, too).

Conclusion? Winners don't get 0 confessionals once we hit the Final 9, and very unlikely in the Final 10.

Culprits? Jaison, Natalie, and Brett.

12 person merge?

Also, if we want to discount Jaison's 0 at the F10, then Natalie and Brett still have gotten 0s F9 onwards..

And with Jaison, no winner has ever had the poor E1 followed by 2 very high-visibility episodes. It's misleading.

The editors still made the conscious decision to not show him. There were scenes that could be cut to show more Mick if wanted.

btw Since Brett and Kelly were there and pretty much non entities you can still kinda count it as a 10 person merge

Also, if you're going to use a 12-person merge as an excuse ... well, Russell Hantz is a walking excuse.

And even if this 12 person merge deal was a reason to explain Mick's low visibility, his two subsequent UTR's are inexcusable.

If we look at when the merge usually starts (F10), and by my ratings, this is his edit: MOR2, (CP3 recap), MOR3, CP3, MORP2... not bad, IMHO. I really think Mick only had 2 UTR episodes this season.

Mick got airtime in the merge episode. At the start, he got subtitled lines telling Natalie what to do (stick with the girls). Then he got a confessional saying it was a good day for FoaFoa after reading that they merged, followed by all 3 FoaFoa being shown doing their parts per Russell's confessional and images. Then him/Natalie/Jaison had Erik come up to them then Jaison discussed voting Erik off (three sitting on the log), then Erik said he was 'mentally tough' at TC. He didn't do much talking, but he was there throughout. He wasn't completely shafted for a UTR1. Lots was going on that didn't concern him: RussH making 500 alliances, Galu self-destructing because of Natalie, Jaison being the alternate boot target, Shambo flopping to take out Laura. He could have been INV.. but definitely wasn't. It wasn't huge, but it was enough, considering it was all about FoaFoa
