I dont think the character Sandra plays in the Blind Side is really "expected of her" at all. IMO. Sandra right now does seem like the 5th Nod at this point. HOWEVER if she gets the Drama Golden Globe and she very well can, she will basically be a lock. And if she is nominated she is the one nominee who would beat Streep. Mulligan, Mirren, Gabby, Blunt, and anyone else in the running has no chance. Sandra would be the dark horse who would potentially be the person who upsets Streep, even if she is the 5th nominee. I also expect if anyone beats Streep in the SAG it would be Sandra as well. My Predixs are: Hurt Locker wins Best Picture, and Director. George, Streep, Mo'Nique and Waltz will be the big winners on Oscar Night.

When has Sandra Bullock ever done something really gritty, something that's REALLY a reach for her? Pretty much never. Ever since her rise to fame she's taken roles that don't allow her to do anything exceptional or set her apart from any other performer.

And lol, Sandra has NO CHANCE AT WINNING THE OSCAR. It's Streep or Mulligan, plain and simple. Why would SAG award Bullock over Mulligan when they clearly loved An Education? Why would SAG award Bullock over Streep, whom they adore? Streep has a LEGION of people rooting for her, but Mulligan has the actor's branch of the Academy (you know, the ones who actually vote on the acting categories...) AND the British voting bloc rallying behind An Education. The only time an actress like Sandra Bullock has ever done particularly well in winning awards is when that actress' film is in the running for Best Picture. Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts, the two actresses she keeps getting compared to, had the advantage of being in films that stood good chances of getting Best Picture nominations (and in Roberts' case, hers did). The Blind Side doesn't. Sandra Bullock is the Angelina Jolie of last year's awards. Her chances of being nominated are great but nobody is going to vote for her to win, regardless of her name.

Also, to whoever said that they're annoyed with no names winning, who the fuck cares? They're awarding performances, not careers or names. Mulligan, Waltz, and Mo'nique have given the 3 best performances of the year regardless of how famous any of them on (and to call Mo'nique a no-name is pretty retarded). No names also give some of the best speeches, by the way, so it actually becomes a rather exciting night because of it.
