In our house Santa brings one unwrapped gift per kid and fills their stockings. He isn't getting credit for everything I bought - he already gets the good
stuff like scooters and bikes or whatever else is too hard to wrap.

I worry about raising my son to think it's okay for a fat white man to sneak into our house at night. But I want him to have dreams and believe in magic,
too. What's the compromise between magic and molestation?

My 3 and 7 year old still believe in Santa, but my 11 year old doesn't.
He is smart enough to know not to discuss it. Although I wouldn't be surprised if, in the heat of battle with his little brothers, he uses that as ammunition. |

Ours "officially" found out last year at age 8, but I think he suspected for quite some time before that. I was really surprised that it seemed like
no big deal to him at all.

Have we not stated the obvious?
If you don't believe it Santa, he won't bring you presents. Therefore, I STILL believe, and the presents have continued to arrive without fail. Although he doesn't seem to understand that I no longer live at home. |

I see all the deconstructionalist jokes have been brought out. Gee, how original.
I never really believed in Santa Claus, but I pretend that he is real. He's a symbol of good tidings and cheer and whatnot. :) |
