the doorman
the newspaper person my favorite chefs........... not the waiters, I tip them well troughout the year the childs bus driver for school the childs teachers......... gift certs at the educational supply store the beauty /hair person gets tipped well troughout the year I give baked goods to the nurses who make my appointments and take care of me at each docs office my car mechanic gets baked goods too my trash guys get a gift cert to the local grocery store both regular trash and lawn trash guys my yard guy gets a cert to the hardware store or lowes or homedepot, he appreciates being able to get more weedeater string or bags hubby does his kitchen staff at restaurant not the waiters |

Getting a gift certificate for a store that catered to my profession would make me sad. It's like someone buying me adding machine tape. "But you LOVE
to add numbers!"

Idk....I thought it was lame but why should you invest your time and thought into someone you barely know and try and figure out a good gift. I know a
repairmen buys stuff at home depot so its giving him a break...same with a teacher at a school supply place....

a gc to buy work supplies is a bit insulting - like you don't see them as a real person but just as a service to you.
a place like home depot is fine tho cuz anyone would shop there for personal needs too. |

I tip my housekeepy well on Christmas.
Presents (usually gift cards) to the teachers and my hair stylist. |

The UPS guy and the Mailman and dance and music and PE teachers and teachers aides ect. . . . $5 panara gift cards. Her teacher gets a larger gift card.
Am I susposed to get somthing for my hair stylist? I just get cuts and I tip her $5 for each haircut. |

$5 is enough for most of a sandwich (thus ensuring you don't have a giftcard with 1.50 on it afterword) or enough for a bagel and a coffee. Most of the
little people (music teacher, lunch aide) don't get anything and they'll be thrilled to get something, and something that's not food that's
going to go bad. No one wants food before Christmas break, there's too much food as it is and eating homemade stuff is iffy if you don't know what the
persons kitchen looks like.

Yikes, thank you for the thread--I forgot today was the deadline for the building collection for the staff, so I ran over to the board president's
apartment.
In addition to that, I give separately to the head super, his assistant, and the security people I interact with often. Cash. Giving to teachers creates ethical issues, so a gc for teacher supplies makes sense. |

i tip our trash men $100 the day b4 christmas pickup...i tip the bums at the local gas station 2 OE's, hotdogs, chips and snickers as already stated.
