Exactly. Russell had his choice of who to go with. Russell chose Natalie. He could've had her booted with the snap of his fingers. If she tried to get him
out, she would've been toast.

Marisa confronted him Liz confronted him Ashley dared to oppose him Natalie wasn't just a dumb bimbo who got lucky, she was aware that opposing him would lead to her immediate demise. Garnering such complete control is good gameplay on russel's part, but it's not unprecedented. Natalie's complete awareness of how to play puppetmaster over the trash talking, "in-control" puppet was completely unprecedented. Also, she articulated this to the jury -- did you see how passionate she got when she was talking about recognizing what happened to Marisa and Betsy and how it influenced her gameplay? The only mistake she made was not highlighting her Erik move as the true downfall of Galu, but perhaps she did that and it didn't get shown. |

Still, no matter how much they disliked Clay, Brian was still the mastermind who deceived and played them all. They were able to set that aside and give the win to the best player, Brian. Without a doubt. And I say this as someone who hated Brian, but you have to give the man props. Clay would have won with the Season 19 jury, because they're a bunch of eejits. |

On top of that, no one from Thailand knew how he really was until they watched the season, so his social game continued on until after the jury had cast their votes. Had Russ taken Jaison or Shambo to the end with him instead of Natalie - a girl who had a decent relationship with every player on the jury - his game play would have been strong enough to net him the win. To me it seems a bit ridiculous to claim that Natalie didn't have game. No, she was not outspoken about it, but it was clearly there. She is a rare case because she was on a losing tribe and was not really an asset in early challenges, but through her social game was able to avoid the line of fire. She was in an alliance with Russ from Day 1 to the very end, and that's gotta be tough to do... the guy was paranoid of women. The other thing is she probably would have succeeded on Galu as well, considering she was basically able to infiltrate the girls within days of the merge and flip the vote on Erik. |

I also think Brian is one of the top dogs in terms of winner. But if he had been stupid enough to bring Jan or Helen at the final 2, he would've pulled a
Russell. Even Probst who sucked Russell's dick harder than anyone this season perfectly pointed it out: Russell needed to go to the final 2 with Shambo and
Jaison, at the very least not with Natalie.
Hey future husband, *giggles* Oh, you.... |

I admit Erik was a nice move, but she was sitting next to someone who engineered every other boot in the game besides Yasmin. There's just no good argument for her winning over him besides appeal to emotion. |

It's actually really sad that people are defending Russell.
It's been stated before, and I'll state it again. Russell played a truly shitty social game. He got everyone except for John and Shambo mad at him with his overly malicious lying and his aggressive behavior (Laura mentioned that he threatened her in a post-game interview). Russell's deceptiveness was far beyond the bounds of the game, he took it to a personal level, and he failed at understanding that people would get mad at him for it. Natalie, as she stated in her episode 4 confessional, recognized that Russell is very good at rubbing people the wrong way, and she recognized that she could use that to win jury votes at the end by being his wing-girl. Marisa, Betsy, and Liz all went against Russ and were booted because of it, Ben played a horrible social game (possibly the worst in recent history), and Mike got medvac'd, so Natalie was clearly doing something right to get to the merge. At the merge, she got the ball rolling with Erik's boot. What did Russell do beyond that? Find an easy idol while the Galu idiots voted right into it? Convince John, who had been wanting to flip forever, to flip? Proceed to get rid of the few people who were potentially bigger goats than him (read: John and Shambo)? Yes, whatever Russell said went, but he constantly made the wrong decisions in terms of actually winning the jury vote. Natalie got close to Russell, let him make all the mistakes, and capitalized at the end. Also, it should be noted that it IS possible to play an aggressive, deceptive strategic game while still playing at least a decent social game, since Todd and Parvati were both able to do it with relative ease, and that's what allowed them to get their wins (okay, Amanda's meltdowns helped too, but Todd still had to contend with 3rd choice Courtney). Chris came back from an even bigger deficit than Russell did (-5 is harder than -4 last I checked), and he was at least smart enough to constantly side with uber-goat Twila (unlike Russ who couldn't figure out to take Shambo to the end), and he did it without the help of three idols. Russell certainly could have won this season, and it wouldn't have taken much more work than he put in, it just required being a nicer person and less of an asshole. |

Actually, the best winner ever was Boston Rawb.
Don't tell me he didn't win. He took gorgeous AmberWho to the F2 with him. The cute girl who he chatted up and controlled all season. When she won the million, he married her. Best Winner Ever. |

I felt that Natalie did a pretty good job in answering the jury's questions. It was a very Vecepia type answer. I'm glad she said upfront "Yeah I did ride coattails. I did play a UTR game, but that was my intent." The fact that she owned that strategy, and said that was her complete intent in the first place was really good. I also want to address a stupid move that Russell made that may have lost him a jury vote. -What hell was making a deal with Brett?! There was no point in making that deal, because it was obvious that Russell wasn't going to follow it based on common sense reasons. And all it did was raise Brett's hopes up, only for Russell to smash it down. Also, if he did fulfill that promise, he would have knocked out Mick, who probably would have not voted for him, because he was probably really pissed off. That was a strategy that it seemed like Russell was just doing for strategy sake. There was virtually no upside to that deal. Russell was not more or less vulnerable with that deal. I wouldn't be surprised if he lost Brett's vote because of this. |
