Blake, please don't kid yourself. I've been waiting all season to call you out for obviously using spoilers. You had zero justification for picking Mick, he violated several rules and was a bland, toneless player with zero complexity. You are a huge spoiler reader every season and they need to add a lurker bar so we can notice you and call you out publicly. I chose not to during the season so that people wouldn't cry that I spoiled them by saying a Mick supporter was spoiled. You would go out of your way to always find bullshit reasoning for Mick to win and discount anything for any other player, especially targeting Natalie after it was rumored in spoilers that she beat Russell, not Mick.I was the strongest Mick supporter in the first few episodes. Your entire argument is null and void. Oh, unless you can tell me that Mick was spoiled "to win" before the season started? Heh. Fat chance.

And now we're back to this stupid debate (and another reason I don't post). It makes no sense for edgic to be so exclusive. Yes, the visibility and
edit ratings are extremely informative, but we gotta use every bit of info the editors give us.
Natalie's story complements (and justifies) her edgic ratings. Why feature her prominently when she's supposed to be RH's oversight and downfall? Better to build him up and maximize the surprise when he loses to the one person he wrote off all along. I think theme-based guessing and number-based edgic have to be used together for the best predictive power--not just one or the other.

I think that's what I said before - merge edgic into the story thread. Edgic guidelines alone are useless unless it's a male CP winner.
Story analysis tends to be vague and undefined (who really knows what the story of a season is until it's over), but it's got a better track record lately than edgic, that's for sure. |

I think it was really difficult for people to pick Jaison, at least for me, because of his first 4 episodes. Up until now, the first few episodes have always
been pretty important. Jaison had the low visibility E1 followed by two major episodes. No winner has ever had the UTR-CP first couple episodes, which is what
Cirie, Brendan, and Amanda all had. That was a major reason I got rid of Jaison, because a UTR followed by a CP, to me, showed that he was being introduced
much more in the wrong episode. Also, in Episode 4, "SURVIVOR was the worst decision of my life".. I mean really. That's horrible for a winner.
Also, for most of the pre-merge, it consisted of Jaison whining/crying/sucking in challenges and everyone talking about it. That's something that the
editors really should have left out.
Some people picked Russell because he was 1 of a kind. It wasn't edgic, but I can see their point. Natalie, I'm sorry, I just don't see any edgic basis. Pretty much everyone eliminated her in the first few episodes.. and then she was revived (for some people) by Episode 4 and all of a sudden these 'first time edgicers' started popping up saying the winner must be Natalie. I had to crook my eyebrow on that one. I think Jaison definitely should have been a Top 2 pick for most people. The people who picked Natalie weren't following how edgic has always functioned, and the same with Russell. Those who picked Mick saw that his pre-merge was much better than Jaison, who most probably had as their number 2. Jaison would have been higher on contenders list, I assure you, if people didn't have only 1 pick after the merge. He was on #2 for a lot of people. For me, it was Mick and always Mick from the get-go. I'm getting mixed responses when asking people this question: when exactly were there spoilers (whether it was DTD or any other source) for Mick? There were never any winner spoilers for Mick. There was the Mick/Natalie/Russell F3 spoiler, and that's it. Then when TDT moved Natalie to the top of the
Survivometer and predicted a Natalie win, all of the 50 post newbies swarmed edgic with their "I predict Natalie wins!" posts. Didn't take a
genius to see through that one.
And if you think that was bad, just wait until S20 when you get about 200 newbies all strangely posting the exact same winner pick. Hmmm....I'm sure they are all just really good at edgic. Yeah, that's it. |

Yes or No.I've got a slightly different take on this than JC. I don't believe you were influenced by spoilers in ANY way. Spoilers came out around episode 4, and like JC said, it was only a final 3. Posts were popping up all over the spoilers board congratulating Mick on a 9-0-0 win. TDT put up Natalie, yes. But everyone was aware of TDT picking Danielle, Amanda, Ozzy, Stephenie. People didn't start picking Natalie here until episode 4, when she had a fantastic episode. Now, this could have been because of spoilers. But remember, people assumed Mick won because of his great start and two edgically shitty candidates being the other two. Real indications that Natalie might have won (which were far from concrete) came much later, way after the merge from SU, but the primary spoiler, missaye, did not give any indication Natalie won until about two or three weeks ago saying to follow the money of a betting website. But also stated that she was unsure of hte winner and that Mick or Russ could have won.

It seems to me that the problem with edgic is the disconnect between an edgic winner and the actual winner of the show. Mick and Jaison might have been the
edgic winners, but Natalie was the real winner. Edgics decision will be do you want to keep with the strategy of picking edgic winners, or start using
story/theme/outside information (interviews, deleted scenes) to pick the winner.
And even though it's childish, and probably uncalled for, after putting with with Blake and co saying I was stupid for picking Natalie after episode 4, and saying that if Mick went to final tribal he would get 0 votes, I just have to say this: You can suck a fat one. |
