Russell was about to cry - if not mad, he would have bawled like a baby.

I don't usually mutlispam like this, but seriously...she won. I made this more due to an insult/challenge but I guess I was right. That was funny as fuck at the Reunion. Russell looked like he was going to die up there. -SJ™ |

Jury videos are up on CBS under "secret scenes."
Jaison was SO on the wrong tribe, his and Dave's both have WTF moments. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/video/collections/survivor_samoa_secret_scenes/index.php?week=1&playvid=6#6 |

Jeff knows that players like RUSSELL are the ones who will keep Survivor on the air and interesting. Russell played hard all season long and he made the season and all the tribal councils interesting and great to watch. If not for Russell, the rest of the season would have been boring and predictable with Galu picking off the Foa Foa's one by one. *yawn* Instead we got one of the best comebacks since the Aitu 4 and this season was must see to the very end . . . until the stupid bitter jury ruined the ending. |

For all of his talk about loving the game, the level of Russell's naivete is astounding. No doubt about the fact that Russell played a great strategic
game, in terms of playing strategic aspect. He was in no way strategic, though, about the endgame. He said he played a good social game because he had people
following him. But, he burned so many bridges, including those of the ones that followed him. Lying, I believe, is completely understandable in this game (and
I hate when people bitch about it), but I think Russell lied unnecessarily and overplayed so many hands. Why tell Brett he may vote for him and cause a tie and
then not do it? Yes, I understand that if Brett's in the final 3, he wins. But there's no reason to tell him things changed and then say I might do
that anyway. If Brett brought it up, that might be one thing. Telling both Jaison and Mick the other was going was obviously going to piss someone off. Natalie
wasn't going to waiver, neither was the other of Mick/Jaison. Being so blatant about lying is unnecessary. Though I totally agree there is a difference
between the game and real life, Jaison brought up an interesting point with his office analogy. Russell is like that guy that will step on anyone to get to the
top and brag about it. All of a sudden, to get that last promotion, he needs references from those people he stepped on. The game is not all about strategy.
Russell completely forgot to include the human aspect. He honestly thought that he can act that way and win. You have to play a great game AND you have to have
people want to vote for you. Russell probably lost some votes not because people wanted to vote for Natalie, but wanted to vote against him. That's his
fault.
I'm not saying Natalie played this great game, but I do agree with Erik that what she did was completely a valid strategy. In her situation, what else is she supposed to do? If she's seen as a strong woman, she's gone early. The only time she was targeted after the merge was because she was seen as the least threatening (when she and Laura tied; they all figured she wouldn't have the idol). Pair up with the loud guy that's going to be targeted. So long as he's there, she's probably going to be safe. I wish she had articulated the fact that you can play under the radar effectively (I don't think she sat around and did nothing), but not everyone can be the leader, the one up in front. |

I freaking hope and praying like Natalie that Survivor 20 will be one of the best seasons ever.... because seriously Survivor: Samoa is definitely in my top
four worst seasons ever.

Natalie made two key moves: she got Erik voted off and she aligned herself with Russell. Does she deserve to win for that? Of course not. Russell aligned
himself for the the final two with Natalie, and Mick and Jaison and, guess what, Brett too!!! When Russell saw Brettt might be in the final tribal council
Russell did what he had to do to make sure he was there too. What did Natalie and and Mick do? Nothing!! Was Natalie hoping to ride Russells coatails into
the final even if Brett was there? The worst thing is that by the end of the show Natalie actually believed she deserved to win! It's really not
surprising that the jury would vote Natalie, nobody in Galu had a clue how to play the game and therefore would not recognize someone who did.

Russell over-aligned himself, though. Telling Mick and Jaison the same story was incredibly dumb. So was telling Brett he might vote to cause a tie. I think
with Brett, Russell was trying to look good to Brett, but by not going through, it just seemed like an unnecessary lie. Russell may not have even needed that
alliance with Brett. I thnk that in all honesty, the worst that would've happened to Russell was a tie with Mick. Natalie wasn't voting him off, so it
may have been a 2-2 tie. I can see why he wanted to avoid that, but I think he overplayed it.

I don't fault Russell for telling Mick they were voting out Jaison and telling Jaison they were voting out Mick. He had to tell them something to keep
them feeling secure so that Jaison & Mick wouldn't have a light bulb moment and scramble to get Brett on board to either vote out Russell or Natalie.
This is called playing the game and protecting yourself and your closest ally.
Also, it was very smart for Russell to schmooze Brett and make a F2 deal with him prior to the last IC, just for the possibility that Brett may have won it. Russell was playing the game and doing all he could to secure a spot in the finale. Mick & Natalie were idiots to not do the same thing. Now, the whole forcing a tie scenario that Russell posed to Brett after the challenge was a little baffling to me and I really didn't see the need to do that. However, after watching Russell all season long it was obvious Russell likes to "create chaos" and put doubt in people's minds. I actually felt like that last bit and Russell making those comments at the TC before voting out Brett were done to make good TV and leave everybody on the jury and Natalie & Brett wonder what the hell was going to happen. From a viewing standpoint, I loved it, because I was actually starting to question whether Russell was so arrogant that he thought allowing Brett another chance (via the fire challenge) to end up in the F3 was a good idea and that Russell actually thought he would earn respect of the jurors and beat Brett. |

My belief, though, is that it wouldn't have mattered if Mick or Jaison knew they were going. Natalie was voting with Russell. I don't think either Mick
or Jaison would've switched because I think they both believed they would be able to beat Russell at the end. At first, it baffled me that the other 3 guys
wouldn't all vote off Russell. Yeah, they could've voted off Natalie, but I don't think Russell was in any danger of going home (unless Brett won
the F4 immunity challenge - and Natalie had been voted off at final 5). I feel like he overdid it when he didn't need to. I'm sure Natalie probably
told both guys the same thing, but Russell's need to play everyone hurt him.

Russel's deal to Brett was dumb. Especially after he won the challenge. Totally unecessary. He didn't need to totally blindside Jaison either. But I
guess Russ wasn't thinking much about the jury.

Blis. hipo, boredmale, thanks for the info on filming. That would be ca-razy to go right back out there (for anyone on this season who was invited to
participate in this coming AS season).
I hate the AS shit anyway - who wants to see these people play AGAIN? If Russell was chosen to play again and he accepted, it will be interesting to see if he corrects his major flaws in his game (arrogance & zero socialization strategy). Honestly, if he WAS chosen to play again, his pleads and mood and demeanor last night at the finale are such a huge clue that he didn't make it far on AS. He wanted that title so badly, makes me think he didn't come close to claiming the title in AS. |
