He played a fantastic strategic game, but made three huge mistakes that cost him the game
1) Telling Mick/Jaison that he made 2 million dollars last year. Once Monica hears this, he lost any chance of her vote. She goes to Loser Lounge and tells everyone this, and now people on the jury have a reason to not vote Russel.
2) Underestimating Natalie and being an ass. She is very likable. Way moreso than Russel. He should have noted that people are not going to give someone a million dollars if they think he is an ass. He played an ok social game, getting Shambo and the Foa Foas to like him. But he did not get the Galu jury to like him at all, and is the main reason for their demise. The jury is bitter, and they did not vote him to win.
3) Not taking Shambo to the finals. It sounds like no one liked Mick that much and felt that he was worthless, so good move taking him. But Shambo was hated by Laura and friends. No way she gets any of their votes. I understand he was worried about losing to Brett, but voting out Shambo was really stupid and in my eyes cost him the game. Russel would have beaten her by a long shot.
