Russell certainly was a sore loser. I laughed at the part during the reunion where Natalie says how she just had a better social game than Russell and he tries
to defend himself with: "what are you talking about? I was aligned with Natalie, Mick, Jaison, Shambo and Brett. I think I played an EXCELLENT social
game." He couldn't even admit he was a jerk to a lot of those people (to their faces AND behind their backs) which generally isn't considered
"good social game" much less excellent. I thought being a jerk was part of his strategy. So which is it? Can't have it both ways, Russhole.

The article is SPOT. ON.
Natalie's victory sounds bad because Survivor Samoa had, by a landslide, the worst editing of all nineteen seasons. They made it The Russell Show and then Russell lost. Of course people are pissed. They wanted us to believe Russell was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And people bought that. |

The editing this season was fucked up for so many reasons. I get the fact that on a whole, this cast sucked. However, I find it hard to believe that with that
many people, they could only focus so heavily on mainly one guy. I get that he was a big personality and did make some moves, but he wasn't the only
person. And, if you honestly believe that Russell just went around telling people what to do and they listened without discussing it and coming up with plans
themselves, you're a moron. When you have someone like Russell around, what are you supposed to do if you're on Foa Foa. Hell, he's taking the
target off your back; of course you're going to let him talk.
Another reason I hate the editing is that it was clearly obvious a few episodes in that, despite their losing, someone from Foa Foa was going to win (unless it was Shambo from Galu). Galu was completely underdeveloped in terms of editing. Again, maybe they were extremely boring, and it's hard to focus on strategizing when they're winning most of the time, but they should not make it so blatant that the winner isn't coming from that tribe (because everyone was so underdeveloped). I admit, part of me thought when Russell was struggling that Brett might pull off the final IC, but overall, I figured Galu was going to self-destruct and/or find a way to get eliminated. |

I finally read the article.. well not all of it.. ok I read a couple paragraphs and the author lost me at whining about how other people didn't get
adequate screen time. It's like the HG's of BB whining about the same- it is on the castmember to have a personality worthy of having more screen time,
period. I don't give a flying fuck about having someone as boring as so many of this seasons Survivors were having more screen time to further bore me. If
you want someone other than Russell, or Jordeff or whothefuckever to have more screen time- get them to be half as appealing to watch.

Thank GOD someone gets it! Why isn't Natalie deserving? The whole purpose of survivor is to get to the end and get a majority of jury votes ... she did so
she's therefore deserving of the win, just like Jenna, just like Vecepcia, just like anyone else who has won Survivor.
Blame editing ... they made this into the Russell show just like they made PI into the Rupert show, Gabon into the Randy show and Guatamala into the Stephenie show, etc. etc. When Survivor starts giving equal air time to each and every player, then it won't be such a clusterfuck. Just because CBS shoves a character in our supposed unintelligent faces (excuse me Mark Burnett, but I'm capable of making my own judgments on who I like and who I don't and have for 19 seasons now thank you very much), does NOT mean that person deserves to win. The problem with sucks is the stupid crowd mentality. Ooooh ... so & so can get loud too WTF ... we better fawn all over them because they might toss us a 2-line post bone after the show is done. Screw all the idiots who can't see past the bluster and the hype ... thank God for juries that actually are allowed to see through someone that they spend time with for 39 days and don't reward people just because they're camera whores! ASS-2+ is going to be insufferable which is why I'm boycotting. |

The editors care about ratings, and keeping their job, and keeping the show on the air.
They apparently accomplished that: Categorized | Network TV Press Releases The Two Hour Season Finale Of "Survivor: Samoa" Delivers A Larger Audience Than Last Year Posted on 21 December 2009 by Bill Gorman via press release: THE TWO-HOUR SEASON FINALE OF "SURVIVOR: SAMOA" DELIVERS A LARGER AUDIENCE THAN LAST YEAR "Survivor: Samoa" Posts Year-to-Year Growth Across all Metrics on CBS.com The two-hour season finale of SURVIVOR: SAMOA, which saw Natalie White crowned the winner, delivered a larger audience than last year's "Survivor: Gabon," according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Dec. 20. Editor's Note: Due to live sports programming on CBS (22 minutes of late-running Cincinnati Bengals at San Diego Chargers game in a number of large Eastern time zone markets), CBS ratings are tentative and subject to change. From 8:00-10:00 PM, SURVIVOR: SAMOA FINALE (S) was second in households (7.7/12), viewers (14.07m), adults 25-54 (5.5/13) and adults 18-49 (4.4/11). Compared to last year's finale of "Survivor Gabon" on Dec.14th, SURVIVOR: SAMOA FINALE was even in adults 18-49 and added +300,000 viewers (from 13.77m, +2%). Note: The SURVIVOR: SAMOA finale ran eight minutes long, during which time the winner was announced. Those eight minutes are not included in this average. From 10:00-11:00 PM, SURVIVOR: SAMOA REUNION (S) was second in households (6.7/11), viewers (12.18m), adults 25-54 (4.7/11) and adults 18-49 (3.9/10). Compared to last year's reunion of "Survivor: Gabon," SURVIVOR: SAMOA REUNION was up +3% in adults 18-49 (from 3.8/10) and added +440,000 viewers (from 11.74m, +4%). Note: The SURVIVOR: SAMOA finale ran 8 minutes long and in those 8 minutes, the winner was announced. Those 8 minutes are included in the SURVIVOR: SAMOA REUNION average. This season on CBS.com, SURVIVOR: SAMOA grew across all key metrics compared to last fall's "Survivor: Gabon." Video streams on CBS.com, TV.com and across the CBS Audience Network grew by 88%. The web-exclusive "Ponderosa" series, featuring voted-off cast members, continues to be extremely popular after each broadcast with 2 million total streams this season to date. |

We could have seen a season of Kumbaya, getting a great tan, and Yoga, but they decided to show us something that kept people tuning in. Read Mz Ally's article, what I could stomach of it. She has such a pompous way of stating a few obvious things in a Danger Dave type way. Even when I agree with her, I hate the way she says things. |

I've always believed that there can't be an "undeserving" Survivor winner. It doesn't matter how you get to the final vote, you just have
to get there. Russell's way was just as legitimate as Natalie's which was just as legitimate as Mick's. The problem has always been that people
think it's just about getting to the vote to the detriment of their social game. That's only part 1. If you can't win over the jury, you can't
win the game. Any person who can make it to final tribal and collect enough votes to win deserves it. Even Natalie (or Bob, or anyone else that people
don't like who won).

Um, excuse me but Sandra rocked that village, and it was b/c of her they got all their supplies going into the camp while Morgan was yelling at shopkeepers.
Plus she knew Rupert was gone which is why she staged that argument that she used as an alibi for her throwaway vote AFTER she accidently blowdarted Rupert
out. Crafty Sandra that one.
Thanks, we're done here. |

What made that write up fail was the mention of Natalie's glorious move that changed the game. Its nothing more than smoke and mirrors to justify some sort
of 'winners edit.' Her claim to fame was killing a rat. She proudly claimed she aligned with the right person. She had ze-fucking-ro to do with getting
Erik out of the game. The cameras caught her mentioning Jaison's idea to some Galu chicks, who realized that they were in Erik's radar to begin with.
The person who got Erik out was Erik. Being condescending to the Foa Foas and running around trying to get Monica out was his downfall. Natalie could have been
30 miles away taking a shit and Erik would have gone home that night. Every single person clinging to that to justify any sort of "strategy"
doesn't deserve to post here. There was a time that this board was solely for fans of Survivor.

Sandra is probably my favorite player of all-time, but let's not pretend she's Brian Heidik.
She's basically Natalie with a much, much, much, much more entertaining personality. And that's why we love her. |

Great article.
I don't blame the editing. If there was a man thinking he's running a one-man show, I would zoom in on him to see how he makes a fool of himself too. The " Marissa/Betsy/John is a threat to me. I'm going to take him out." was way overdone. Russell sounds like a drama king. Russell lost the battle because he seriously sucks in the social game. All he was saying was "I'm here because of me". If only he bothered to recognise how far he has gotten with the help of his alliance, he would have gotten a couple more votes. |

Article does a good job explaining why it's justified for a player such as Russel to lose-- even if editing makes that his loss seem arbitrary.
But it doesn't do a good job of explaining why Natalie truly deserved to be Survivor. The vast share of the individual and team "survival" work was done by Russell. He did the heaviest lifting by far. Natalie could have been any other coat-tail. Coatailers are justified winners in any other season of Survivor, perhaps (and I'm being generous), but not this season. Natalie was a completely expendable player, interchangeable with any other contestant who has elementary sense of Survivor strategy. Russell was robbed, not because he didn't deserve to lose, but because, by default, nobody else deserved to win. Me > Dalton Ross > Ali. |
