The person who "deserved" to win was the person who got to the finals and received the most jury votes. That's all.
The whole article is about this fact.

Natalie is a horrible winner, maybe the worst, but I can understand the agrument Rus shouldn't win, and Mick was useless.
Just another in along line of stupid seasons. |

It was Natalie, in fact, who pulled off the single most difficult and significant maneuver of the season: getting a much larger eight-person alliance
that was facing her four-person alliance to turn on one of its own, which ultimately fractured it permanently. She had an absolutely unassailable claim to the
title. She made the single most important move of the game.

Russell wasnt as good as he was made out to be, lots of mistakes... Neither was Nat playing an uber-good social game. She played the only game she could, UTR,
and she wouldnt have been able to mix it up if required. Season-verdict strategywise: Mediocre Foa Foa beats retarded Galu...Move on, next season is soon to
come.

Natalie was definitely not the worst winner - she played a good game doing what she could. This season, especially the finale and live reunion was utterly
ruined by Russell and CBS/Jeff Probst's huge hard-on for him. I honestly had to turn off the sound every time Russell spoke. And the reunion was only
worse. It was basically Jeff saying to Nat, "oh you won...but doesn't everyone here think Russell should have? Yeah, let's talk about Russell some
more. Shambo, would you like to join me?" Worst season editing ever. If picking one contestant and making the entire season around them is the future of
this show then God help us all.

I think the editing was done so because Russell was really the only player that would get the show the ratings. The producers, knowing that Russell wasn't
going to win, were able to edit it so he at least won fan favorite.
Just like they did for Rupert. And the fact that the Fan Favorite is announced after the winner, gives the audience a chance to overcome sour grapes if their chosen one doesn't actually win. There are pros and cons for both Natalie and Russ winning or losing. For some players, the social game IS more important than anything else. |

Wow, even a stopped clock gets it right every once in a while.
I was raged Sunday night and grumpy about it on Monday, but that article completely makes me change my tack on this season. The editors have been selling the head fake since the week before Thanksgiving. I can absolutely believe that Russell was treated with kid gloves just as Coach was; someone allowed to fully buy into themselves as long as it meant everyone else advanced. Russell's chances to win the game actually evaporated by the time Foa Foa had the numbers to Pagong. But then, how do you edit the show to not be a season of total fail if Russell's shoved out to the margins? Foa Foa needed every Galu to go home for any of them to win. Russell saved himself with a HII to tie the numbers game; Russell won the last immunity challenge to stop Brett's game-winning immunity run. You could try and sell it as an "all for one, one for all" Foa Foa, but each and every one of them talked about getting rid of one or more of the others multiple rounds before necessary. Short of pushing ALL of Foa Foa to the margins and making it the season of "lol Galu", what do you do? |

Remember in the early seasons, when in the prologues Jeff would say, "This isn't only a test of survival skills. It's also a test of social
skills"? That's the game's premise, and is it not clear that Natalie had way better social skills than Russell?

Shit article, the EW one is the most accurate. Erik made a total asshole of himself his moronic speech - the jerkoff had what, 2 weeks to work on it
and he still failed miserably. |

I like this quote by Probst, which sums up and repeats what I argued a few pages back: "Oftentimes on Survivor, the vote does come down to a choice where
a determining factor is "how nice someone is" but that's usually when all other criteria being considered is equal. That doesn't hold up this
season. This season was so lopsided in terms of one person (Russell) completely dominating the game that to not give him the money and the title is a bit
silly." And I like this quote from a commenter on EW.com: "What on Earth does Natalie think set her above even Mick, other than her pronouncement
that women should be subservient to make it in Survivor? The only women Americans like are women who make theirselves and other women look stupid and weak.
It's comforting to the women haters. Natalie's an Auntie Thomasina." Fuck coattails!

lol trying to call Natalie a sexist stereotype enforcer.
Last I read, such prophets as Probst and Dalton weren't listing Russell along with the BEST PLAYERS ever (Fairplay, Cesternino, and Mariano) -- all losers mind -- and giving no credit to WINNING players like Parvati, Sandra, and Tina. Yeah, 'kay. What an Auntie Tomasina or w/e. :EYES: |
